Hi everyone

I've been looking at mirokus as a replacent for my bettinsoli crypto.

I've been seeing mk38 and m3800 and then mk60 m6000 etc

What's the difference between these guns and do they warrant the extra price?

It'll be mainly sporting with the odd bit of decaying/game etc.

What would yous recommend?

Mk38 browning 525? Etc.

I'd prefer multi choke if possible

The Miroku range of guns are excellent value for money. They are made in the same factory as the Brownings (except the B25's). The only real difference is in the stock configuration, with the Browning usually being a touch higher in the comb and a slightly different grip shape. I would suggest going to somewhere where you can 'try before you buy', even if it involved some travelling and comparing the 2 makes, it may just save you making the wrong choice. I wouldn't waste a cartridge on the decaying game though !

Cheers lads,

I've always fancied one and I've seen a few different models around £800 which I should be able to afford depending what I get for the crypto,

I'll be heading to Weldon gun room to have a look and probably buy from them as well.

Cheers

Jamie

Also, are the older models,,3800, 6000 etc. Worth getting or are the newer mk models much better?

You have to consider if it will shoulder up ok for you. A lot of people can shoot Berretta but not Browning and vice versa. Also some can shoot either with no problems. Two of my son in laws really like my Browning to look at but neither feel happy shooting it and if I were to give it to either of them they would off load it pretty soon for a Berretta of some description. Personally I don't have a problem shooting anything. As far as I am concerned it's a gun and I just concentrate on the target. Single trigger, double trigger,o/u, SBS, pump, auto. It's just a gun to me.

Been looking at getting an mk38 and as far as I've been told

Mk60 is fixed Choke

Mk70 is multi choke

3800 is a trap gun but because it was so popular they made them into sporters (slightly lower comb and changed fore end) which they soon made new which was the........

Mk38!

All will fit slightly differently, I like quite a high comb so am after a grade 5 or 6 mk38.

As has been said, try before you buy if you can!

They don't lose much if at all so it's not the end of the world if you don't like it, sell it on and try again.

Give this a read mate! I found it very helpful when I was deciding what I wanted, it describes the evolution quite well in my opinion.

http://www.shootinguk.co.uk/reviews/shotgun/gun-reviews-miroku-mk38-shotgun

Heads up dependent on location I know of a couple of 7000's around Derbyshire at Countryman of Derby and J.F Nevilles both for circa £700 they have a few mk38's too but not the spotters mainly trap variants.

If you're anywhere near Nottingham welcome to give my gun a try on a few clays!

I bought an MK38 Teagued Sporter in the end, nothing against the 7000's still great guns I just fancied something newer with multichoke.

The MK70, 7000 and MK38 fit my like a glove with 15 inch LOP.

I got the main man, who couldn't tell a fixed choke from a multi-choke. I kid you not.

I took a Classic Doubles multi-choke in, to be told that there was no market for fixed choke guns. I pointed out that it was a multi-choke - he said "So it is". I put the gun in it's slip and left. I don't like dealing with idiots.
