steve d
I like Fiocchi Golden Pheasant in my sxs, dont feel punchy at all, but as has been mentioned-does the gun fit properly?
Robertt
Fits and mounts exceptionally well and shoots where I'm looking. Just checked weight and it's 6 1/4 lb. As John states. For walked up , the odd 32g or heavier would not be an issue.

Much over 32g in 6 1/4 lb will be very sharp, and bear in mind that the lightness is achieved partly by slim stock woodwork - and this can be damaged; Our American friends have a bizarre tendency to very heavy powerful loads, and cracked stocks are an issue there. My AyA No 1 is 6 3/4 lbs and I wouldn't go over 32g. Edited October 11, 2017 by JohnfromUK
Robertt
Fair point John. I did put a volley of 36g's through and they were fairly brutal. No apparent gun damage although I was more concerned of my teeth falling out. I would agree with 32g max. figgy
The Lyalvale Express 25g 6 shot old traditional type game in the 2 1/2” ribbed green cases carts are very soft shooting. You could buy a 6.5 clay cartridge and it will do what you want cheaper than marketed game carts.

Robertt
Winchester GB 30g were my favourite in the O/U. Havn't seen them years.
Paul223
Hull Imperial Game take some beating in guns like this. My old SxS made in 1906 loves the 28g fibre no6. This
Jay_Russell
I've been using gamebore extreme Grouse in 31g through my army & Navy sbs. I've found them comfortable to shoot

Robertt
Thanks hawkfanz. I have quite a selection to get through , am tying them out on Wednesday. If I dont find a shell I'm happy with I will get in touch. Although I'm sure I will find something as have been given a wide selection plus what I have bought. Thanks again. Robertt
Test carried out on High Tower this morning. 8 shots each all felt wad , totally unscientific, just my perception of the felt recoil. The ones tested that were uncomfortable in MY gun were, Eley Pigeon Select 30g, Gamebore Black Gold 30g and 30g Dark Storm. The following are listed low recoil first. Imperial Game 28g, Fiocci FL28g, Lyalvale Express Pigeon Power 29g and Eley Impax 28g. These 4 , I could use all day although surprisingly the Impax were alot sharper than the other 3. I was pleasantly surprised how soft the Pigeon Express were and if I get a chance will pattern them against the Hull Imperial. While I was there I stuffed all the 'hotter' loads through my 1100 Auto and it was like using an air rifle !!! JohnfromUK
...... although surprisingly the Impax were a lot sharper than the other 3. I have also found the Eley 21g clay load to be considerably 'sharper' than other 12g loads such as Hull CompX and Fiocchi TT21. Possibly Eley use a faster powder?
