tomaddy525
Just bought a kicks hi-flyer full for my wildfowling. The question i have is what sort of patterns can I expect with it using my normal 32g 6 lead plas-wad cartridges? Will it still give full patterns with them or will it be more open? neutron619
If you thought you needed an aftermarket choke, I'm surprised you haven't thought that you'd need to pattern it to discover the only real answer to your question. hatsanmad
It will give a full pattern with steel. The extra full i have i put my bisley choke gauge in and its a slightly tighter then a half choke.

Depends on your Gun but id imagine 3/4. If you can mic it as a lot of Aftermarket Steel chokes are the same constriction as Lead chokes. wymberley
There is a particularly comprehensive series of pattern tests on here which might give you a fair idea of what to expect, albeit from just one gun which isn't yours. Search: "First attempt at pattern testing".
Fen tiger
If you look at the specs on the kicks chokes on their website i could not find description of their muzle size but looking at a small 12ga bore size it lists .723 as the bore dimension for mobil chokes and for the invector plus .743 so they are not just making the bigger size and using it on all smaller bored guns. Full i think will be measuring half choke but being a ported choke tube and if using hard felt or plaswads the ports will check such wads as they pass through it and this can improve pattern density the ports working a little like the patternmasters to some small extent, i would guess a full HI flyer with lead will be like a three quarter close to full for lead. wymberley
Tried searching this but nothing shows up I'll kick it back into life with, 'yer 'tis. It consists of two separate tests - one with a 'normal' choke followed by the Kicks. If I remember correctly, the difference in the central core is evident. Caravanman
I've got a HiFlyer full in my Winchester SXP. Using 28g RC2 no 6 plastic wads which have 240 pellets it puts 195 in a 30" circle at 40 yards making it full with lead.
figgy
I got good half choke lead patterns with my kicks High flyer in modified in my sx3 which I found the best with steel B.B. and as an all round choke. I personally found the full to tight in my Beretta optima plus bored semi auto when I had it for where I shoot. Good for range on ducks and geese but useless over splashes. Pattern yours and see how it does.
tomaddy525
It has been bought for extreme range geese using 4mm powershot so I'm not too worried about it being too tight for that. The only reason I asked the question was out of curiosity, I shoot a 3/4 briley choke for all my other shooting in the semi but if the kicks happens to give a roughly equivalent pattern it will just save me changing. Me being lazy mainly
figgy
Is powershot the non tox that behaves like lead. If so you might be right on a 3/4 choke pattern. Testing is the only way to know for sure.
tomaddy525
Its basically heavy-shot, 13g/cc and as hard as steel so I doubt it behaves anything like lead ballistically. All I know is if you hit a goose with it it tends to fall down pretty fast
johnnytheboy
The full high flyer means full steel, it's just under half in regular constriction I think, I put a link in the wildfowling section to their constrictions, they published them on the old website luckily I had a screen shot of this
motty
In my experience, a normal 1/2 choke does not produce full steel patterns - far from it!
TIGHTCHOKE
It will give a full pattern with steel. The extra full i have i put my bisley choke gauge in and its a slightly tighter then a half choke. That is no way to check a choke!
Caravanman
My full definitely patterns full with lead plastic wads.
