Velocette
Someone brought me some of this from Denmark recently and I found out today that it can be bought locally. A bit Marmite in its appeal but I find its an amazing taste. www.mrsbeightons.co.uk
loriusgarrulus
I was bought some sweets from Sweden once. Most were fruit flavoured, but the black ones had ammonium salts in them. Its an acquired taste that I don't have.

It sounds delicious, I can't remember the last time I ate something sweet, savoury all the way.
Velocette
The Danish type was in the form of a hard boiled sweet,so it was strongly liquorice flavoured. The ones I got today from Haworth are the real stuff,,,soft and chewy. A range of strengths too. I tried the the most powerfull and my mouth had no idea at all as to what I had just put in it ! Pigeon Shredder.
Hope none of you have read the latest health reports on how bad black licuorice is for you, let alone being loaded with salt as well. Supposed to bring on high blood pressure and heart palpitations in men over 40. What next on the bad for you list?
Jaymo
Hate the stuff- I work out of Amsterdam and it’s favoured by many Dutch colleagues. Yuk yuk yuk
grrclark
Tyrkisk Peber is my favourite Scandinavian liquorice savoury sweet. Liquorice flavour with ammonium salt and powdered black pepper in the middle, an absolute flavour explosion. Lidl did some own brand version of this not so long ago, I daresay they will again. figgy
A cloggy brought some into work last year on a job not all was salty liqourice so was a bit of a roulette. After one or two you get used to it and it’s quite nice. I love the hard black liqourice that takes ages just to bite a piece off to chew. Velocette
PS. There does seem to be a side effect that guzzling a quantity of this stuff produces,,,and its not very sociable !
