Been off my work with my knee for 10 months although there where no uric crystals in the samples they drained form my knee the specialist came to the conclusion  it was gout and started me off on two big doses of medication to kick start the control , Surprise  surprise it worked and i could bend my knee again for the first time in months  and started going out with the dogs till i hit the wall every day and i felt fit enough to return to work  then i thought i had one wetting too many going out with the dogs and had caught a cold . I went into work last friday did six hours and came home went to pick up a tissue as i was going to cough and next thing there's a ambulance man telling me to breathe  i had conked out and fell off the chair i hit the deck with my head lovely carpet burn down the right hand side of my face and pushed a dining chair two foot across the room , the paramedics asking what do you want to do i said go to my  bed he said no chance hospital or doctors you have a Acute lower respiratory tract infection ( i think thats the first time ive had anything cute in my life )  a week of antibiotics and i was at the doctor this morning my lungs are down 25% and another week of stronger antibiotics  I really cant wait ti 2018 it certainly cant be as bad as this year :lol::lol:

Yes, chest infections are a pain in the proverbial. Mine was borderline pneumonia. It felt just like a cold until one morning I felt I had an elephant sat on my chest! "Besides the other half" and the pain was unreal just trying to take a breath. My first dose on antibiotics I can remember. I don't do medication normally. Hope they work for you, and your on the mend soon.

Bob.

Could be, I have one hell of a sore throat, and know it will go down on my chest ( always does ) I'm convinced these viruses are spread deliberately.

I'm glad that your knee is on the mend; gout can be very painful (I speak from experience), but in most cases can be treated by either a careful diet, medication, or both.  You need to find out what things act as triggers, then avoid/severely limit them.  I keep it at bay with diet nearly 100% successfully my main triggers being liver/offal and seafoods - shame as I love both, but have to restrict to a little very occasionally.  It is also very important not to become dehydrated as that can trigger it off.

Chest infections happen, but again mostly cleared with antiobiotics.  Makes one wonder how people coped (and how many more were lost) before antibiotics.  I'm lucky here and they seem to clear themselves quickly (so far anyway) with me.
