ehb102
https://notalwaysright.com/mission-scarily-possible/106233/ This website has a few stories that beggar belief, but could this one be true? I had my own worries about children being smarter than you think re gun cabinets.
Lord v
Not sure. The story is contradictory as it starts off by saying they never opened the safe while the kid was in the house, but then says the kid was watching when they got something out to sus the code. I guess it's technically possible, but unlikely. Still, something to think about if you have kids in the house.

Not contradictory because he says that he never opens the gunsafe with kids in the house. Mention is made of the keysafe being opened when the kids are in the house to retreive items other than the gunsafe keys. I think it is entirely plausible. Kids at that age learn much by observation of adults and anything forbidden becomes very interesting.
Rewulf
Im a bit dubious. He talks of 'medium to high power' bb guns , airsoft guns are like 1 ft lb ! And grenades 'just like the real thing', but with peas The dramatic 'he just pulled the pin, so I shielded him with my body' sounds great though Sounds a bit made up to me. Scully
My kids never knew the whereabouts of my cabinet keys, but air rifles and pistols were never locked away. My daughter, son and his friends and a nephew took a very keen interest in guns so I removed the mystique by letting them handle them at any given opportunity in my presence. I taught them everything they needed to know about guns and how dangerous it could be to treat them carelessly. I bought them BB’s and safety glasses and they ran around outside shooting each other, and they learned how to handle real firearms properly. Despite having his own shotgun at one time, my son has no interest in shooting now ( apart from on his PS ) but my nephew and many of his friends now have their own shoot and are as safe and as keen as mustard. Removing the mystique counts for a lot.

I had assumed the safe reffered to in the second part was the same as the gun safe. I'm still sceptical, just how often would they be going in to the key safe with some nephew around? Especially as it only had expensive jewelry and documents in it. It would definitely be a risk for kids living under your roof.
Dougy
There is no way that he forgot to lock the safe though , is there And those types of safe are rubbish anyway.. I doubt the child could have opened a key,ed safe without the key. And why does the bloke refer his BB guns as weapons. Toys
TIGHTCHOKE
What a lot of ********, Madam you have too much time on your hands! The final paragraph says it all; "Fortunately, this event did finally convince my nephew that guns are dangerous, and now two years later, he’s much more interested in football and Pokémon than conducting secret agent operations behind our backs." It was a simulated grenade filled with dried peas in the wrong hands that was the cause of some light bruising all because a 7 year old trainee cat burglar wanted to get in to a locked cabinet of Airsoft Toys and another locked container of pyrotechnics. They love coming hunting but its all about the hunt and experience not the guns.
Graham M
He refers to his plastic toys a "Weapons" and then talks about a lad with an interest in guns as "An unhealthy interest"..................................... Sounds like a merchant banker to me who is trying to convince the uninitiated that he is some sort of all knowing hero. Twonk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
