Bobba
This ground covering plant is taking hold in a garden and starting to replace the lawn!!. It's height is about 1 - 2 inches. Any ideas what it is and how to get rid of it? Many thanks.

JDog
Thousands of plants at the cotyledon stage look very similar. The good news is that these are not Japanese knotweed seedlings. The bad news is that the plant in the background as others have pointed out looks like the dreaded JK growing from a rhizome.

Definitely looks like HB in the corner, we get it on our river bank, i go along ripping it out a couple of times a year, this is stopping it moving into my garden, but it still grows back. Down South
That’s called “mind your own business”. Likes damp, shady conditions and is a real *****r to get rid of. Weed killer works but any bits missed spread again. Good luck. DS.
GingerCat
I have a bit in the driest sunniest spot in the garden and it keeps it in check. Weed killer works if it gets out of hand. Saves me weeding that spot.
Bobba
Many thanks one and all. Weed killer it s then. I do not think the other plant is JK. We have a bank of Japanese Anemone there but I will inspect again.
