Timberwolf00
Sorry if this is the wrong thread, can a gun owner leave a spare set of keys with his insured body ie BASC ECT in case he is out the country and the police need access to the cabinet for any reason thank you in advance . Is insures allowed to do this for there members?.
zipdog
I would not of thought so, and I certainly cannot see why it would be necessary! If the police desperately needed access, if they thought you was holding something illegal, they would find a way to access you cabinet without the keys! TIGHTCHOKE
Somehow I doubt it, have you considered asking BASC, I presume you are a member?
Walker570
That is a very strange question. As said, if the police wanted access then they would have ways of doing just that with a warrant. You cannot leave your keys or have your wife even know where they are, so the thought of leaving them with a third party would not be tolerated. panoma1
I would not think so! Firstly no one, except yourself, is supposed to have access to the keys to your gunsafe/guns, secondly even if lawfully they could, I would not think BASC would be geared up to offer such as service? The only possible way I can see that this may be done, legally, would perhaps be by depositing your spare keys with your solicitor?

BASC has advised that even depositing safe keys with one's solicitor is a big NO.
toontastic
The way around it is to have your guns on someone else's ticket, then you can both share the cabinet. Thus legally giving a third party access while you are out of the country. Edited August 10, 2019 by toontastic
Scully
I can’t think of a single reason why the rozzers would need access to your cabinet while you’re out of the country, unless you died, and if you’re dead you won’t know about it. 🤔

My mate has done this he and his son inlaw share two rifles
