The Heron
As above can anyone recommend an ant killer for use in the kitchen bearing in mind that I have a dog I know that they are coming from behind the skirting board so I have removed the skirting board and I am thinking of blocking the hole up will this be enough. Thanks.
figgy
Put ant powder behind the skirting board. Or diotomeacious earth it's an inert powder that kills insects by being microscopically sharp and cuts them to death. Used for mites in hen coop. You won't believe this but when I showed my missus the name of that powder I said I bet you haven't got any of this hang on she said goes to the cupboard and comes back with a bag of it she's old school and has lots of stuff in jars tins and bags. steve_b_wales
An excellent product if you can still get it is Dethlaq. It sprays on, and dries to a hard invisible barrier. Waterproof too. Kills all insects.
bruno22rf
Mix Ant Powder with plaster and fill the gaps then make your own Ant Killer with Borax and Icing Sugar - loads of info on the net - cheap as chips and very effective.

GingerCat
Get some ant bait stations. They take it back to the nest and it kills them pretty quickly.

Retsdon
Boric acid. You mix it into a bait, either sweet or savory depending on the type of ant. There are recipes online on how to make the mixtures In Thailand ants are always an issue and boric acid is what we use. It works too.
