loriusgarrulus
I have a chicken in the freezer. I have made Christmas cake and puddings this week. Our personal choice is to stay at home. We decided that is what we are doing till the vaccine is available. We are lucky our Grandchildren are in the village and we get to see them and my Daughter from 6ft away at least once a week. Might have some days in the wood. 👍👍
turbo33
GMB poll this morning. 75% thought the governments plan was bad news. Of the 25% who didn't, imagine, if this is representative of the country, the millions that will be spreaders. People seem to think its a war with the government and are focused and taking pride in being defiant, and do not seem to grasp the concept that the war is against a killer virus. 600 yesterday? My view is, we're nearly there, vaccine on the doorstep. Can't people hold on for a few months to protect others and have a blow out in Easter as was said above? Gordon R
Whilst I think a break in the middle of any lockdown seems like lunacy, the Government must know that many people would break the lockdown at Christmas. What they have done is shift the blame for any increase in infection. They have given almost carte blanche, but said that it is up to us whether we take the risk. If it goes okay, they will claim the credit. If it goes wrong, they will point out that they had given health warnings. That said, I am unsure as to what else they could do, given the public's appalling record for obeying the rules. First Christmas without our children and grandchildren, but hopefully many more with them, once the country has returned to normal.

I’m assuming the 75% will be locking themselves away and the 25% will be doing limited mixing which is probably what would have happened if the government hadn’t relaxed anything. blackbird
People know the risks & if they or their elderly relatives end up in a box just to enjoy one day it’s up to them.

I didn't suggest they are. Interesting discussion on LBC radio about this subject.

I'm not sure that some really do get it, and it won't be just confined to their household. One of my relations has contracted it. He is an electrician, and tack and trace have confirmed where he picked it up, and it was from a hard surface in a house he was doing an install on. He was on it immediately, and isolated, as have his wife and children. But it shows how easily this is spread to others that are not in your family group. I doubt the mixing will be limited, the lads in work will all no doubt be in the pubs, then back to folks houses and I'm sure that will represent a vast number of teens to thirty year olds across the country, and plenty who are older, they then go home or back to work and away we go again . I'm guessing late Jan early Feb will be another lockdown.

That's correct, same as you can't go around people's house's for a drink or get a hair cut at the moment, but guess what its happening, so I very much doubt people won't mix in pubs. So why the criticism of the rules the Government are putting in place? People are making their own decisions.

I'd be happy seeing family and friends because we won't go stupid. Government has said there will be consequences with relaxing things over xmas, it will be those who take things too far complaining most when new restrictions get brought in.
