Stealth Stalker
On my way to the syndicate shoot today I had a call from one of the lads " we've got problems" Kids had ripped down about 30 yards of the main pen, cut the electric fox wires, tipped over the feeders & get this battered to death several pheasants  When I got there I couldn't beleive the destruction & mindless thugery, what the hell do these ***** get out of cornering young birds & clubbing them We've spent the day repairing the pens & making them secure, the birds are understandably very skittish, were lucky they didn't strike a month or so ago as we would certainly had a lot more dead birds. I've just got back in from keeping an eye over there as I'm sure they're gonna be back , the way I feel at the moment I could quite easily treat them the same way they've treated our birds Tha local keeper on a big estate neighbouring our shoot has also had the same sort of attention from these scumbags & he's chased them off the estate a few time , it looks like they've found us now :( SS
Bagsy
Sorry to hear that, know how you must feel. Any chance it could be antis?
Mungler
Antis won't club birds to death. The problem is policing the area. Leave a sign up "We will find you".

Stealth Stalker
I've been talking to a few people about what I'd do to them if I catch them & the verdict seems to be they're not worth losing your licence over. But these ********* need a serious hiding, my game keeper mate has got some seriously naughty blokes lined up the next time he catches them, no licences to loose & the keeper will be in doors with the Mrs  SS

digger
Blank firing poacher alarms will scare the hell out of them, if your syndicate cant run to the expense they are easy to make. Steel or copper tube, striker and optional deflector plate

BSA Shaun
Set up an ambush for them. What youy want is very very bright lights, shone straight at the eyes. For all they know you could be carrying a loaded firearm, but you wouldn't have to be, because not knowing if you are or not is worse than actually knowing. Use a very calm but firm voice, dark clothes and balaclavas. The art of psychological intimidation.
njc110381
You can get paint mines that don't hurt people but cover them in permanent ink so they stand out for a few weeks. Maybe you could try laying a few of them down in places only they will be walking? When you see a red chav crossing the road in town, run him over On a serious note, paint mines and alarm guns will scare the hell out of them. Turning them a weird colour for a month may be enough to put them off coming back? It's a real shame you can't just shoot them, but that's the law I guess
Hunter
If you caught them the cops wouldnt do anything about it Nonsense. The police need evidence, if he can show the police who did it, give names, etc, they WILL act on it. A lot of cases cannot be solved by the police due to the lack of evidence to start a case. As to the rest of the posts, be careful what you write here.. this is a public forum, there are all sorts of people reading these topics.
njc110381
As I said shooting them is illegal, no matter how ammusing it would be. The paint mines are perfectly legal as far as I'm aware, they do no physical damage
Stealth Stalker
I'm liking the idea of these paint mines, the birds wouldn't trigger them would they? As for lamping them up, they were there during the day. SS
Graham M
I can see where you are coming from lads, but I wonder if paint mines may be considered an assault in this God-forsaken country. Take care what you write……….we are the legal ones here. G.M.

digger
Its all in the making of poacher alarms. Manufactured ones are rather ineffective and easy to spot. Those made from a correctly sized tube of high tensile steel with a well placed striker are much better. Imagine a short lenghth of tube with a dead center striking drop mechanism placed at any height and triggered by a trip wire placed at a height not triggered by deer. welding a deflector at the required angle to emphasise the FLASH is not too tricky. I hear cartridges loaded with confetti and placed in a device as above have the desired effect

twelvebore
Greetings SS, I believe that your only course is 'bodies on the ground'. You need to have people watching your land and birds at all hours. Sorry mate, but I've seen these problems in the past and the only way to stop the morons/poachers/thieves is a person watching. PS. don't carry a weapon, the little **** will call the plods. Again, sorry mate, another sign of our so called PC society.
paulos
Scaring them or catching is the only way if I feel. If you were to use any of those paint mines I could see you being handed a bill for the young scrotes clothing that's damaged, and Kappa tracksuits and Burberry caps are an unnecessary expense when you've already had property damaged.
