On hearing ill rumour that Londoners may soon be urged into their lodgings by Her Majesty’s men, I looked upon the street to see a gaggle of striplings making fair merry, and no doubt spreading the plague well about. Not a care had these rogues for the health of their elders!

The family in the flat below this one have had visitors all day. I could hear them through the floor laughing and talking loudly, the kids playing together like kids do. They have just gone, making a lot of noise saying their goodbyes on the doorstep at the top of their voices.

They just don't give a toss, been the same all the way through the pandemic. Christmas time they disappeared for about three days, gone to visit relatives no doubt.

I have two sets of near neighbours that have been exactly the same , one husband and wife , both have covid for the second time at the moment.

Covid likes a crowd... was an advert in our paper a week or so ago, so cities and larger towns are going to be hit hardest.  12 months they have had warning that it may return with a vengeance this winter and done nothing to bolster the NHS or ambulance  Used to be huge warehouses  stacked with ambulaces and medical kit down near Evesham

but I suppose some smart alec in government decided to sell it all and now we could use it like we used army fire engines during the firemens strike.

Probably over a meeting at a shiny table with bottles of mineral water and note pads supplied the decision was made ...Oh, we will never need them again so ell them.

I remember one of my old Inspectors briefing before a simple carnival day in town.... ex military ....  "Always plan for the worst scenario"

BUT they have still not bolstered the situation knowing it was going to happen. Had this from one of those at the front line BUT they are still having to fill in reams of paperwork so the overpaid bureacracy can shuffle it.
