The Heron
England are really up against it not only they playing the Indian cricketers but three umpires as well.
Robden
Don't suppose there's much chance of rain is there??

Yes they seem to be making it up as they go along, I really feel for Mr Root, he managed to remain calm.

Was watching it on 4+1 to see what all the fuss was about. My opinion is that the umpires were just a tad biased,,,, all the commentators said as much. As said previously,,,, "SHOCKING" !!! AVB
That pitch is a nightmare. That said, if we had won the toss I doubt we would be complaining but its a shame that the game of cricket just becomes a coin toss lottery. Normally there would be independent umpires but covid put paid to that. I've played cricket in India and been victim to their dodgy decisions! LBW when I've middled the ball to cover, caught behind when I've missed the ball by about 6 inches, run out when I was past the stumps before the wicket was broken etc. I did find that buying the umpires breakfast before the game helped. Spoonbed
Good knows what went through the umpires mind, when he thought Rohit was playing a shot! Bloody ridiculous
Robden
Are India pushing it too far? England have no chance of getting the runs needed, but can they manage to just defend for the last day and cause a draw?

If we bat that long, we'll have won anyway. It's death or glory now

chrisjpainter
Well I'm up and awake for the final cut. This isn't going to be pretty! But this pitch is daft; to be turning square before the end of the third innings is poor. There has to be a reasonable contest, or else you may as well call the whole thing off with the toss. 243deer
the thought has occured to me that India producing result pitches is partly the fault of the ICC with this test world championship concept. If we win the next toss it can backfire on India but they need to win the series 3-1 so we can hardly blame them for going for it.
Smokersmith
Didn't set my alarm this morning, but made it up in time to see Moeen's consecutive 6's ... which was nice. Let's hope we win the next toss, and the boys can put the last few days out of their minds.
Smokersmith
Looks like our bowlers will have to show their world class credentials, and hope we have a better 2nd innings!
chrisjpainter
yes. Our bowlers. A pitch that's spinning from the first session and we have four quicks and one spinner. What numpty thought that was a good plan?
Smokersmith
I hope the ‘pink ball theory’ pays off ...but I think they’ll prove to be a better side again this time.
clumber
Very poor batting against their spin. Four of the top six bats failed to get into double figures. Completely outclassed. Think today's test is a day/night one so hopefully under lights with cooler weather we can get the ball to move. Any more straws to clutch at? TIGHTCHOKE
Well I am very glad I slept through our latest batting collapse!
The Heron
We look desperate already Archer, Leach and now Stokes bowling won't be long until Root has a go, who on earth decide to play three fast bowlers and only one spinner. EHK-312
Leach's fielding on the boundary pretty much summed up our day, terrible viewing ! Also the stumping review did anyone think the third umpire was very quick to give the decision ? Two quick replays and he's not out. On a positive Kohli has just gone and Pope must be rather chuffed with that.
TRINITY
Glad you mentioned Pope. How many chances does he want. Unless it's me I have never seen him do anything . I would sooner see an extra bowler because his run contribution is usually insignificant. As far as the rest of the team, so many look out of sorts. Their body language is terrible, looks like plenty of them dont even want to be there. I can see an innings defeat as the most likely outcome
EHK-312
To be fair I think Pope will be a key player in that England middle order for years to come, he just seems to have hit a bit of wall. India is always a tough place to tour and two tests ago they looked like world beaters, it will come back around but I think is the reality check they may well have needed. They won the toss which was key but couldn’t put it to any use and fell apart, the wicket of Kohli is huge but sadly I think the writing is already on the wall after a day but we’ll all tune in tomorrow I’m sure.
