Walker570
I normally load #7 shot ... 18.5g 97g SP3 12mm fibre over an over powder card and the cases crimp nice and tidy. I am shooting a make believe day in a week or two and had a small amount of #9 shot so thought I would use it up for that day. Poured 18.5 into the case and it settled much lower than #7s and I suppose because it being small it fills the spaces better. Even 19g was not quite up to the mark. A few more pellets and the cases crimped tidy with 19.3g but still not as full as with #7s Any ideas how to get around this? Additional over powder card maybe ?? Thoughts? Perhaps more/thicker fibre under the shot to get the shot higher for a good crimp

Smokersmith
Cheerio’s in a 12g ... so in .410 .. ? Sugar Puffs/ Rice Crispies?

I doubt that would carry very well, un-puffed rice, long grain and organic would be viable.

Old farrier
Or you could just shorten the cases and do a rto 😊
Walker570
Shot card under the crimp ?? Would that be viable ? Looking for a simple solution really as I am not likely to be loading a huge amount of #9 shot anyway. Appreciate the suggestions.
Smokersmith
Yes .. that is a recognised way of helping such situations.
dipper
Yes that’s viable done it loads of times with 12 cork or polystyrene
222mark
97g of SP3 seems an awful lot ,sure that's correct?
Stonepark
0.97g or 15grains
222mark
Sorry , i'm still in old money. 15g sounds better.
sitsinhedges
Ive used chocolate flavoured weetos under the shot in 12 gauge. A bit of thick card on top of the wad or some other smaller breakfast cereal should work fine.
Walker570
Many thanks, I will load a couple up and give them a try. As said, unlikely to load many as I just had a quantity of #9s sitting doing nothing and the make believe day seemed a good way of using them up.
