Velocette
Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced source for these batteries for my magnet please. I bought one off here a few years ago and its just starting to slow down a little after 3 or 4 hours. I was quite surprised at the prices quoted online. TIGHTCHOKE
I buy mine from Halfords when they have a sale on. Last one was a tenner.

Yes well worth enquiring , my one is several years old now and I bought it second hand for a fiver , used it for two to three hours sessions and the odd all day and up to now have never let me down , it came off a golf buggy , the local car breakers near mine also had several second hand ones that came off like you say mobility scooters , trouble is you don't know how much work they have done before being scrapped , mind you , as they are only a few quid you are not going to put yourself in financial hardship if they don't last as long as a new one . Velocette
Lots of possibilities there, I'll have a look around. Certainly not paying the £40+ that they are advertised at online. Thanks for the suggestions.

To run a mobility scooter you need two. As it's unusual for two batteries to fail together shops tend to replace both batteries and scrap the old ones. Generally but not always the batteries are in a sealed battery case for ease of charging or lifting into/out of the scooter before putting into vehicle for transport. This way you can pick up one fully functioning battery that is small and light and designed to be run down and recharged on a regular basis. SLWC
I can supply them for £23 but unfortunately it’s the postage that kills it.
Poor Shot
If you've a fire and security alarm company local give them a call and enquire. The systems all use a 12v battery backup supply from which the batteries are replaced every 4 years regardless of the condition. The systems charge and condition the batteries for the duration so they will likely be as new. IME they'll have them stored somewhere and a scrappy will collect them in bulk and pay peanuts compared to the true scrap value. 7, 12, 18 and 21 AH were the most common sizes but batteries up to 120+ AH weren't uncommon for large commercial systems. The may well say no as you won't have a valid waste carriers license etc but it's worth a shot. Smaller, one man band type companies will likely not have an established waste management system in place and let you have some for beer money.
