London Best
Strange! Bismuth works just fine for me.
Smokersmith
Some of the early Bismuth in big sizes was very prone to shattering. Is this new or old stock?
Walker570
Used #5s with great success in my 410 and ducks fell out of the sky. Explain to uninitiated in these matters, what is a pillar test..is there a season for them?

My guess is it’s where you take a piece of shot, crush it in some pliers, and are so horrified by the results your spelling temporarily goes ‘off piste’. Brilliant explanation, I did wonder if a piller test just gave you fat fingers? But he was using rather large shot.
Smudger687
Out of interest, what are you going to be shooting with triple A bismuth? Seems an uncommon size.

Walker570
Tell me why you need triple AAAs for killing poor little tree rats? I find a 177 pellet does the job no problem. #5s or'6s similar. 1 hour ago, grahamch said: Have approx 500g no 4 bismuth going spare Just a big too large for my needs, what a pity. London Best
AAA is a ridiculous shot size for shooting squirrels, or come to think of it, for anything else in this country.

shakin stevens
Triple A actually shoots well in old vintage fowling guns , folk still use it and make their own shot. I had a 4b with plenty of choke in it, that shot well with black powder and a brass case to accommodate a good payload of shot . Folk have moved on or sold up with old guns, but it's not uncommon to find folk still loading that shot size in the right guns .
muncher
I have been using a lot off Bismuth this season on geese and I've found it very effective, to the extent that some pellets have gone straight through the birds. This is in 4.25mm the shot looks awful but it works well. Edited January 21, 2022 by muncher
