Out on a stubble yesterday and all going well 12 in the bag and CLICK!!!!!!! This is the first time its let me down after 5 years and I don't know how many cartridges that's gone through the old girl. So packed up and go home grumpy (It looked like it could have been a great day 12 in 50 minuets) Striped the gun down and found that the small pin that holds the extractor claw had worked its way out and jammed the rack from going all the way forward thus stopping the hammer striking the firing pin.  This was easy to fix in less than 2 minuets, so back in action for today but will take a back up gun just in case.

I have never had the pleasure or displeasure 😋, of using a three shot auto for Pigeon shooting or any other form of shooting come to that , I know a lot of people do and they seem very popular , my ole mate Lakeside had one but I think he got shot of it and stuck to a o/u , one downside was it used to eject the cartridge cases everywhere and took ages to pick them up if you had long grass around the hide , my everyday gun is a B S A side by side ejector , the ejectors are getting worn now and it is dead easy to take the spent shells out yourself , very little can go wrong with that type of gun except falling to bits like the last two that are now in the melting pot

You could have been on a tidy bag Alan by getting a dozen in under a hour , throughout the early part of the Spring and Summer I have had many days where the bags have been under double figures in the short time I had been there , I thought I had began to knock a hole in our local population but how wrong can you be ,   when the harvest started the Pigeons came out to play we have got as many as ever , as I said in a previous post we have got good numbers on the rape stubble's that haven't been shot until the farm foreman took his boy last Saturday afternoon , yesterday when I looked there were still 100s about and a mate of mine is going to have a go later on today while I am going to have a little go on a stubble field that have just been drilled with next years rape , not as many going on as the rape stubble but it will be a lot safer for my dog to pick up .

GOOD LUCK for today and hopefully your auto stay trouble free .:good:

I`m with you on this John. Not into driven game shooting presumably requiring ejectors, I`ve found that a non ejector suits my needs and have never really needed quicker reloading against the pigeons. Simple is best methinks. Also, I`ve never even fired a semi-auto let alone owned one, but I do acknowledge that many use them for sport ...... sorry, pest control :whistling:and also where reduced recoil is a necessity.

Most annoying. I’ve never been let down by a gun on a day out, but now I’ve said that……

exactly the same thing happened to me a few years back on my escort. weirdly the problem solved itself in a way, the pin worked loose and as the slide moved forward it bent the pin slightly as it was trying to go into battery. so when i stripped it down becasue the pin was a bit bent when i hammered it back in the friction fit was actually way better. never had a problem with it again.weird design, pin would be better off goin in from the top imo. a role would serve better once its been knocked in and would be easily replaced and cheaper. the part they use lookes like a milled plasterboard nail.

Went through a curiosity phase re the Turkish semis, mainly the Armsan A612.…. until recently that is. This followed a few busy days on the pigeons where recoil through the O/U became a factor after a couple of hundred cart’s. I had a ‘try out’ and have to say, operating the Armsan seemed clunky and anything but smooth. Recoil was not significantly reduced (according to my non-scientific shoulder pocket feedback) and it certainly wasn’t a great ‘hitter’ for me - too many unexpected / unexplained misses. I know some people get on well with them, so perhaps it’s just me.

Not claiming to be a world champion…..🙂 but don’t want to give up tooooooo much success to the semi’. In other words I need all the advantages I can get?!
So it’s back to the good old trusty O/U for me.

Had this happen to mine on a goose trip in Scotland not good. Have also in the past had the piston fail and the action bar snap. And again 6 months ago the pin dropped and bent none in stock anywhere as far as i can find so gun sat in bits in the safe. shame as  a knock about gun i shot well with it as fitted me well and was not bothered if i dropped it in the mud whilst out on the marsh. Have brought an Xtrema plus as my new fowling gun, so will repair redip the camo and keep as a back up.

Serious question fse10, I have seen a few advertised reasonably cheap , would it be any good buying one for the spare parts if the parts themselves are hard to come across .:hmm:

I’ve had two Beretta auto’s, both bought brand new and the latest one an A400. Both supposed to be super reliable etc etc and the expensive end of the market, both eventually gave problems after heavy use (and they get cleaned after every outing)
Couple with picking up shells littered everywhere at the end of a busy day I just use my o/u’s now and leave it in the cabinet……they do shoot well and recoil less but no matter what people say they’re just not totally reliable if you use them a lot.

Hence I’m not surprised you’ve had issue…..personally I always take another gun if I use mine now!

Did think about that, but the extractor pin comes in three head sizes 6,8 & 10mm so would need to know which pin it had. As i have an M2 & the A400 i'm in no rush for it.

Ah , I took it that they were machined made and one part would fir another gun of the same model considering how precise these machines are nowadays , anything other than normal function would jar me off as each time I pulled the trigger I would be thinking if everything is going to work as it should and we all know that 100% concentration should be on what you are aiming at , GOOD LUCK and lets hope you have got the problem solved .
