He cut out the shape of the gun and the length of the barrel was corresponding with the length of the rubber bands he could get from the office. We needed a mechanism that would release the band and could not work out how to do it simply.Eventually we worked out that we cut out a gun with a magazine shape (Something like an slr) and then glued a clothes peg to the top of the gun above but behind the magazine.He then drilled through the end of the clothes peg with a very fine bit and right through to the breech.We then glued a piece of fishing line from the top of the peg right down to the bottom of the magazine.This gave us a trigger and smooth enough release to launch the band.Was pretty simple but very effective. When I was younger 100's of daddy long legs,blue bottles and wasps paid the price. Now days you can buy a gun that fires multiple bands off a reel but it doesn't have the same fun as making your own.
