Certainly true sadly, will always be rear end cover agitated behind the scenes by lobbyists?

Won't concern me but I only give it 30 years and all gone except Dixon of the Dock and criminals by then society could really be in trouble?

Think you are being optimistic, if labour get in us shooting snobs will be first on the list of things to-do.

I give 15-20 years max, but like you say, it won't concern me also.

Pessimists were saying exactly this when I started shooting in 1960.

must admit I never came across this when I was shooting in the 60s, but things have changed a lot since then.

My renewal is due in late Jan. I took my medical record request form to my doctors almost 2 weeks ago and paid the required fee. I expect to get an email from Lincs police when they receive the form from my doctors but haven’t received one yet. Should I chase my doctor or be patient for a while longer?

Just to update, it’s now 7 weeks since I took the medical form into my doctors! They claim they posted the completed form to Lincs police last Wednesday checked today and they haven’t received it! Has anyone else experienced a delay like this? Police say Lincs surgeries are taking on average 6 weeks to turn forms round!!

6 weeks, I would have loved for mine to have only taken 6 weeks. Mine was over 12 weeks with my surgery in Kent.

When I actually spoke to the doctor rather than the receptionist, he told me he had filled it out about 9 weeks ago, but had forgot it was in his briefcase.

I was going into the surgery once a week after the quoted 21 days. The receptionist wasn't passing the messages on.

Mine arrived with Lincs police today, submitted  application in this afternoon. I’ve been into the surgery 4/5 times, phoned 3/4 to chase. It appears that they think it’s ok to take 6 weeks, and choosing to post the form during 2 days of postal strikes rather than email suggests someone is dragging their heels because they can!! In future I’ll use Medi cert. They will take up to 6 weeks but you know they are on our side!

for clarity,

if you make a GDPR subject access request for your medical records so they can be sent to the likes of medicert can complete the medical history report, then the times scales within the GDPR apply.

If your registered GP agrees to complete the medical history report required by the police, they can charge as little or as much as they like and take as long as they like to complete the report as it is private work, not part of their NHS contract or covered by GDPR act.

With the benefit of hindsight I should have gone to medicert not my surgery. I did phone medicert and a very helpful lady said they often get applicants apply through them having given up on there surgery. Very often the request for medical records prompts the surgery to complete and send the form to the police. In that event medicert refund the £50 fee!!
