Hi gang.

Have just checked the above and there are streams of it. My question is how often should it be cleared ?.

                                                                                                                                                                    Thanks all.

My iMac auto clears every second day.  Everything in the history goes.  Still with the  iMac you don't seem to get any viruses or glitches. or any random things.  I am still plagued by women who keep emailing me and want to do things with me and put vast sums of money in my bank account.  The Mac can't stop that attention though.

The days of macs being ignored by the virus makers are long gone, Macs are targeted just as much as PCs now if not more. The reason they were left alone years ago, was there were not enough to bother making a virus to target Macs, as their numbers increased, they became more attractive. It's a numbers game. The more there are, the more chance of catching someone.

You can set your browser to delete browsing history when you exit it, or you can do it manually in 10 seconds. On Google it's the 3 pips top right of the screen, click on the pips, click history,  3 pips appear at the top again, click the pips and the option to clear browser history comes up, click on delete then wait 3 seconds for the computer to find it all.

My question is what problem, precisely, are you trying to solve?

The history is on your PC.  You've already been tracked by cookies you've accepted.  The various websites/advertisers already have your tracking data.  Clearing your local history will not change that.

If, on the other hand, you want to free up HD space, crack on, though there are probably better places to start.
