ChrisNicholls
A big fish for sure but nothing like the weight being claimed. 40lb or so is the current run of the guestimates. You decide.
Teal
A great fish either way! Fantastic to see it returned to hopefully spread those genes!
Dunkield
Looks a big 'un, but as you say i don't think it will top 64lb but I am no expert. I guess the question is answered somewhere, but whay the hell didn't they weigh it?
BSA Shaun
They did not weigh it cause they only had 30lb scales with them, so will never be recorded as a record either
al4x
must be a complete ****** to not be able to weigh it but I guess who takes scales out that go over 30lbs when they go salmon fishing

Cranfield
I agree it is a great fish regardless of its record potential. Try getting a tape measure, open it up to 50 inches and then look at that photograph. The bloke holding the fish must be enormous, for that fish to be 50 inches long. Suffolk shooter
There is no way that that fish is 50lb, I have had carp over 30lb (Just shy of 40lb) regularly and they are that size with a gut on them. I would hazard a guess at that fish being 28-29lb poss 30lb. I am no expert on density of salmon flesh to carp flesh, but would hazard a guess they're about the same. Still regardless, damn nice fish and one any angler would be proud of regardless of size. Got the pics and the memories and that's always good enough. Oly
I am no expert on density of salmon flesh to carp flesh, but would hazard a guess they're about the same. A smaller game fish can easily outweigh a similar sized carp. Carp (inparticular monster pond/lake carp) are very easy fighters to a decent river fish - inparticular game fish. Dunkield
It's the whole size/wight thing some people are into it others aren't. I would rather catch a fighting fit lean river fish then a big bloater out of lake. The most memorable fish I have caught have been weirpool pike of no more than about 10lbs or so. It takes all sorts, hence the reason people create monster trout and stick them in little muddy holes for people to catch

That fish won't be far off 50", average width of a hand is about 4", just count how many it will take for the length of the fish. Aprox 12 for me, so that's 48". Still a cracking fish, BJ.
