Michael300970
For Sale - £350My late fathers C.S.Rosson 12g sxs Boxlock Non Ejector Very good condition Comes with original sales receipt from 17.1.58 from Norwich outlet of C.S.Rosson & Co Ltd Gun and Cartridge Makers £63/15/0 which I think is amazing I’m lucky to have had an A4 sheet of the guns background HighlightsGun actually made by gunmaker Charles Hellis & Son which is not surprising as Charles Hellis & Son in 1950 bought C S Rosson after the death of Charles Stanley Rosson during January that year, gun was built in 1952There was a mistake made in the serial numbering of this gun with two guns given the same number and the other has been given an extra A to differentiate between the twoIt has 2.3/4” chambers, 28” barrels weight 7lb 2oz proofed for 1.1/4 ounce loads Edited February 5, 2023 by Michael300970

bruno22rf
Seem to recall that, by this time, Hellis sold guns manufactured in Birmingham (trade guns) and only finished them to different standards as required and fitted them if required? Old Boggy
Didn`t Gallyon buy out Rosson at some stage ? I seem to recall that Richard Gallyon held the Rosson records at one time.

I seem to recall that Richard Gallyon held the Rosson records at one time. Just checked in Nigel Brown`s book and according to that, Rosson was acquired by Gallyons in 1965. Accordingly, at the time of the writing of the book (2005?) Richard Gallyon still had the records. It gives his telephone number as 01953 850215. Out of interest, does the serial number start with 45** OB
Old Boggy
I would love to have something like that from my late father. It`s good that you have retained some of the provenance, but it just seems a shame not to keep it in the family. The sentimental value alone far outweighs the current market value. However, I wish you luck with the sale. OB

OB I have his Bonehill Hammer that was also my Grandfather that I wouldn’t part with, I agree it’s not the value I’m just trying to make it easier for my wife if I was suddenly no longer here, so tried to price it under true value to achieve a sale
Sako7mm
Is there nobody in the family or your circle of friends who would appreciate this? S/S non-ejectors are sitting unsold in gunshots and auction houses in great numbers. Gunshops not gunshots- damned auto correct.
Centrepin
I think many of us out here would like it but would also either have to sell something to make room or to raise the money.
London Best
If I wanted one I would pay the £350 all day for a gun like that Rosson over some of the ten Bob mass produced rubbish offered around the same price.
Whitebridges
Stonking gun for the money. Looks in lovely condition too. Non-ejectors can be an advantage when shooting from a hide, especially with a mate. I hope you sell this OP. It deserves to be used and loved. marsh man
That really do look a nice sound gun , if anything I prefer a n / e than a ej , until recently I was looking for something very similar although I like slightly longer barrels , I was lucky enough to get one in our local auction last Oct which was English ( T Wild ) and in roughly the same condition , if not I would had seriously considered your one , this day and age it is not a lot of money and will last a lifetime if it was look after which it rightly deserved to be .
