general grievous
The swifts have arrived in East Yorkshire! It’s put a little bit of joy into my heart. Just thought I’d share. Have a lovely weekend. GG

SuperGoose75
No Swifts or Swallows as yet..but the House Martins are back inspecting nests today in a sunny NW Ireland.
martinj
Swallows were here in Hampshire on Saturday, does that mean it's summer? Edited April 18, 2023 by martinj
old man
Sadly, if following the trend I don't expect to see any locally other than those using the reservoir to fuel up on passage. Nobody including seems interested in helping the migrants. Nest holes blocked, martin attempts to build mysteriously destroyed and tree rats fed. Nublue 22
Well here in Stafford first swallow last Saturday heard them first, a joyous site me thinks, only gets me thinking about our younger days, sand martins all along the river trent in Stoke, yes Stoke, and lapwings galore and others all gone now, all so very few finches this year. If it carries on 50 years on i wonder what will be left? Edited April 25, 2023 by Nublue 22 Add
discobob
When we moved here the field across from us had stack of swifts/martins continually flying over it. Found trace of a nest that the builder had obviously removed under the soffits - I wish he had of asked us first as we would not have minded it at all - but no more in the nearly 20 years and never seen anywhere near those numbers again - do spot the odd one though - in fact there was one the other day
