Well I chucked this together yesterday and made a hash of it. Didn't warm the milk, Didn't let it soak in, just put it in the oven with cold mixture ๐Ÿ™„

Be rate I'm still eating it whether or not, it tastes better than it looks. Oh, and yes I did "grease" the dish with butter although I might as well not bothered ๐Ÿ˜…ย

As with most food, it depends how it's made.

My mother's version was creamy, with succulent raisins and sultanas, plenty of jam or marmalade and a slightly caramelised top.

The sad version that they served at school had dry, solid currants, a thin, gloopy centre and a hard, toast-like topping. It was awful.

When they have it in, the Lidl bread and butter pudding is one of the best I have tried, apart from my mum and nan's that is.

As you say it all depends on how its made, when its done right its light and tasty with a crusty top.

bread and butter pudding is the worst thing ever to be put on the food table.

sorry

My worst is macaroni cheese. Just those 2 words make me feel ๐Ÿคข

As everything though,,,, it is down to personal taste of course, and a good bread and butter pudding is delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜ A bad one is like 'mac n cheese' though ๐Ÿฅด

My mother (about the only good thing she done - and that includes giving birth to me :Dย ) uses/used a tin of carnation evaporated milk when making rice pudding which was very nice, I wonder if it would be good in one of these instead of the milk.

I am on the side that likes it....
