Morning all

I'm pretty vigilant to online security but this one got me on PW so letting everyone knows what happened.

I put an advert in our wanted section for a shotcam ( shotkam ) and got this reply, IT TURNED OUT TO BE A PHISING/MINEWARE SCAM but this is how it started

scolari01 has been banned.

Thank you Steve.

Will you be able to trace scolar01 IP address through your back-up hard drives, and pass it to the authorities in order to get a possible conviction or would you like the message packet details before I permanently delete them?

I'll leave the option open for you for a few days until you guys have had a chance to mull it over and just PM me if I can be of assistance.

Cheers

I'm not a moderator any more. I do know that the above 'member' has been banned. Perhap's you could contact a moderator and ask him the same question. I would think though that it would be down to TEAL to do anything.

Regarding the above. From the language used this was likely a bot programmed to sift through forums and reply to wanted ads.

Here’s a link to an American Jeep forum where the exact same bot appears to have posted - uses the same ‘dawndawson’ email address.

It’s definitely something to keep an eye on going forward. They’re often Indian in origin and you can sometimes pick up on the quirks of their posting style.
