JohnfromUK
Sad news, but as time passed, it did seem increasingly likely that something awful had happened. His broadcast work was done well and with a nice degree of actual involvement.

Minky
Ironic that a guy who worked on personal good health and diet should keel over like this. I suspect that the circumstances point to him having a heart attack. He was walking ok in the nearby village. I wonder if he would have keeled over if he hadn't have gone walking in these temperatures and conditions. Whatever the circumstances it would have been difficult to get effective medical treatment required in time considering how remote and rugged this island is. Westward
I've lived and worked in that level of heat in Australia. Once the temperature gets past high 30s Celsius, we have to be aware of the risks when out in the sun. Europeans, even those from southern Europe, have to pace themselves, maintain hydration, get regular rest and stay near shelter. Dr Moseley took a wrong path and was simply out too long for his 67 year old body to cope. It seems he nearly made it to shelter, but it's fair bet he collapsed with heat exhaustion. Yes the heat will kill you if you don't treat it with respect. The main thing is always wear a brimmed hat with an air space above the top of your head. The reason is your brain needs to be protected because if it overheats it can't cool itself and it shuts down. You go dizzy and your legs go wobbly The classic cowboy hat / Australian Bush hat is ideal. So is the old British army pith helmet. Baseball hats are useless A hat will probably double your ability to withstand the heat but I don't think Michael had a hat. He obviously understood the danger because he appeared to be carrying an umbrella but that's probably not thick enough.
