Hello, And your point is ??

I think his/her point is,,,, that, despite having no grasp of general grammar [and this one sentence is edited 😆], he/she can't spell PIGEONS !!! 🤔 And, correct me if I'm wrong,,,, but isn't that an image of a Rock Dove ? 🤷‍♂️

Think he/she is trying to say that if pigeons are causing problems for farmers why are they not welcoming him/her with open arms.

Think he/she is looking for some PIGIONS shooting. :)

We have been through these sort of posts loads of times so there isn't any point of telling the new member where to start , putting myself / yourself in there position and where would we start this day and age ? , if most of us went out today to look for Pigeon shooting then there might be a fair chance we find some , this could be because we have got a fair amount of background knowledge like knowing the various crops and how to go about finding the landowner and how to go about asking him / her for the go ahead .

But how do a complete novice to the sport find out the background knowledge to begin with ? , easy for us to point them in the right direction but they are up against it if they are not sure of the various crops , where to look and what to look out for , it will also make a difference in where you live , living in the middle of a large town with very little countryside close at hand could be the first problem , how much time on there hands , transport from a to b , what type of pest control shooting they are looking for such as shotgun , air rifle or bullet gun , as you can see the list can go on and on , and t b h if you have got a fair amount of knowledge when it come to Pigeon shooting you are not likely to ask for shooting on the forum .

It must be very hard and a daunting task for a complete novice knowing where to make that first step to get on the ladder , So where do they make that first move ?:hmm:

I think the point is very valid that the OP makes, and it frustrates some friends who are actively looking who know what they are doing.

I think I am frustrated on other peoples behalves when they get a rejection that someone else shoots the land 1-2 days a year, and then they complain at crops being lost.

I personally would join a club/org that taught me the skills of the land, reading crops and treelines and flight lines, and taught me to set up a hide and how to shoot better, with a view that farmers could use a system where they publish a year and the club sell days/weeks rather than it being exclusive to one person who may have several perms but can only shoot one at a time.

Hello, JP, anyone not involved in the farming or shooting community will find it hard to get shooting permission, farmers will not entertain strangers , you could try door knocking or sending out flyers but seldom does this work, I do not not know if there is a pigeon shooting club in Hampshire but there are a lot of game shoots and they need good beaters so that is another way to gain shooting with the permission of the Game keeper, but it may take a few seasons to gain his trust in you, good luck, PS You do need to be fairly competent in shooting and pigeon shooting with a good insurance,

You need to get to know your local farmers, or farmers in the area you wish to shoot if you do not live amongst them.
Buy your eggs and potatoes from them. (Regularly, not once.) Use their farm shops if they have one. If you drink use the pubs which the local farmers frequent. Any method to get talking to farmers.
Eventually you will become recognised as someone from the local community and that is the time to bring up shooting in your conversations.
You need to realise that this generally takes twenty to thirty years!

Hello, Ok thanks for your reply, It looks like JP has no interest to understand the country way of life
