chrisjpainter
Gold in the Kite Surfing! Another sport I'd love to do...if I was instantly brilliant at it and didn't have to put up with all the falling off and getting dragged around by a giant plastic bag that goes with getting to be brilliant. Ellie Aldridge was absolutely flying! 30 knots and more at times. Edited August 8 by chrisjpainter

Mice!
Just watched the women's 400 hurdles, great race, flicked over for highlights of France v Germany Basketball, great great game. Now Taekwondo, a strange Martial art/ sport but can be exciting
Mice!
You should see the VAR absolutely brilliant with coaches able to challenge, and quick decisions

She is technically almost perfect and glides around the track with such ease! Wonderful world record. KJT in great shape in the Heptathlon too. I'm thinking silver for her, as she'll lose a junk of points to Thiam on the javelin, but a decent long jump and a great 800 and you never know... Just now, Mice! said: You should see the VAR absolutely brilliant with coaches able to challenge, and quick decisions Yeah! And then they all just accept the decision once it's been made and move on. None of this flouncing that seems so necessary in football

Pushandpull
According to a post on another forum (chap was there) Austen Smith was given a miss in a similar way slightly earlier. If this had been scored then the shoot-off would have been her (USA) v Chile with Amber getting bronze. He also says that VAR was dropped for the benefit of smoother TV production. chrisjpainter
Gold for GB in the climbing! That's a mad ol' event. He won it when some Japanese dude nicknamed The Octopus fell off. either way, Gold for us!

Amber said in interviews afterwards that it had happened to others during the event, probably why she took it so well. But for me shooters should be allowed so many challenges, once it gets to the finals waiting a few seconds for a decision is no big deal, knowing you had gold is, but then who wouldn't be happy with a silver. chrisjpainter
Anyone else think Carlin was a bit lucky with that Bronze? Obviously I'm pleased we've got another bronze, but that looked a nailed on second yellow! I bet the Dutch rider's a bit miffed!
