Seafood

I have been following a seafood van on Facebook for sometime and my wife and I decided to try it out on Saturday. It sets up in a car park just outside of Bamburgh on the Northumberland coast. We had the half lobster, monkfish and chorizo, and scallops with a portion of crispy fries. It was all delicious (although I thought the monkfish had a funny taste) and a nice treat.

That sounds a grand idea.

The local pubs were offering half lobster for £38!

There is a company called Cam Seafoods that set up beside my local butcher every month in Ashington. All fresh 👍

Dunno where in Northumberland you are

Unfortunately all the local pubs around Bamburgh are geared up for the tourist trade hence the inflamed prices, the food in your photos look great though

Looks great,,,, can't beat fresh anything, especially fish 😋

On the pricing, don't forget that pubs have more overheads to include 😉

Yes but when the fisherman gets about £12 for the whole lobster as opposed to the pub getting £76 for 2 halves

Thats still an excellent price. It's not the largest lobster I admit but If I buy one off the dockside in Brixham it will be closer to £25.

That look superb I G , even the bread rolls make my mouth water ,   MM

Cheers MM, my wife makes the butteries, they are made with an enriched dough with a layer of butter, then folded much like the way a croissant is made, the recipe originated in the Aberdeen area but she has changed it a bit, even won a few bakery awards, sweet version's also come in chocolate or cinnamon

You need to stop this I am on a diet. This looks off the scale delicious. If I ever make it to the Western Isles I hope for an invite 😉
