old man
Advice please as above. For humane trap vermin despatch. Not looking like a Sig/Glock. etc. But small. Ideas and advice please? Is it worth it? Edited December 4 by old man
Dougy
How big is the trap If its a small trap say live catch mouse trap with a tiny mouse waiting for you, the good old HMR would manage close range, if its a Bear size cage trap i'd go something a tad bigger. You see its subjective, we need more information on the intended target, it may just need a size 5 Croc (in sport mode though)

Dougy
Air pistol, or air-rifle, take an air-rifle with you and pop a few off while your out. or pistol if you need to be discrete.

You will of course need permission to be shooting on the ground.

Mice!
7 minutes ago, old man said: I'm naturally discrete. Just maybe need a small powerful pistol as described? Crossman pistol in .22, using a comb, if you look on YouTube for trap dispatch of squirrels you'll see just how simple it is. I've done dispatch with the R10 in .177 and not again, the pellet zipped through with the squirrel bouncing around inside.

Power is not necessary or desirable. 1ft. lb. in the head kills anything you are going to catch, without exiting. As a kid I used to shoot ferreted or wounded rabbits in the head with a very old Webley .177 pistol producing 1 1/2 ft. lb. with no drama whatsoever.
