Bear68
After two days getting soaked while game shooting, I need to upgrade my coat. I'm looking for something waterproof and breathable for under £300 or thereabouts. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks. mellors
Ridgeline or deerhunter pro game. Both good jackets.

redial
I have heard good things about Fortis but don’t have personal experience.
Scully
Fortis are very good, but I doubt the OP will get one for under £300.
Yellow Bear
This has possibilities, found it the other day when looking for a breathable waterproof and other stuff from them that I have "does what it says on the tin" https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/original-waterproof-jacket/_/R-p-X8368025?mc=8368025

Some say that you can get almost identical jackets to the most expensive Harkilla jackets for £80 on ali baba.
old'un
Most of the so called “waterproof” coats will let water in after prolonged periods in the rain, usually the first place you feel it is on the shoulders. look at the Hydrostatic Head test number if you want to keep the rain out. 39TDS
In my experience if it doesn't say Goretex it isn't going to be waterproof to the point you don't get wet if out in the rain all day. Laksen CTX is very good but is unlikely to be within budget if new. My best waterproof jackets was a used Laksen CTX, I would happily pay £500+ for a new one as it would probably last the rest of my life. Dan C
Have a look at the new forest clothing performance field coat. At £120 i took a punt and it puts coats twice the cost to shame. Iv been out twice now game shooting in rain all day and it didn't let a drop in. It's comfortable, sized nicely and is very comfortable and doesn't feel restricted when mounting the gun etc.

Some of these coats have high Hydrostatic Head numbers, look for a minimum of 10,000mm ….https://www.newforestclothing.co.uk/collections/mens-shooting-jackets?filter.v.price.gte=&filter.v.price.lte=&filter.v.availability=1&sort_by=manual

Westley
Have a look at Uttings website, the Snowbee 3/4 Field coat. I have had coats by Laksen, Musto, Barbour and Fortis. Some of which I still have. However my 'go to' shooting waterproof coat is the Snowbee. Neoprene inner cuffs, 3/4 length, fleece lined hand warmer pockets, 2 large cartridge pockets with stud open flaps. High collar, fold away hood and extremely lightweight. You would need a fleece under it in cold weather, but I have never needed it to date. RRP under £200, I paid £75 in a fishing tackle mail order company, in their sale. My Fortis coat is 25 + years old and still going strong, just looking a bit too grubby for more formal days. Snowbee are an excellent company to deal with, including after sales.
