wymberley
Does anyone know what the folk manning this outfit are playing at and in particular with regard to FAC air? My nephew - 50 odd yoa - lives on a farm and already has permission to shoot shotgun over the land outside of his own boundary and has a SGC. I have just made him an offer which he can't refuse and neither will his son. As it happens, he's already spoken with the FD regarding the possibility of having an FAC. He was told that an application for a FAC would take some 2 years to process and also that he had no chance of getting one approved for air. It seems - according to the FD - that an air rifle pellet having either missed the target or passed through it would then ricochet more than any other rifle which I imagine also includes the 22LR. He keeps chickens and is having trouble with both squirrel and fox and is fully aware that the permission to shoot on the land outside of his boundary would need amending accordingly. scarecrow243
tell him to apply for the f.a.c. air rifle but do not put fox control only pest control on the application plus a .25 cal. would be better than the .22 or .
clangerman
a response like that from a firearms dept should be shared with the chief constable and pcc asap!
TIGHTCHOKE
Surely not another case of an FEO NOT knowing what they are talking about?
Dougy
Im in Staffs and racking my brain as to who would come out with this TOSH. The dealings i have had i have found them very accommodating, eg asking for a 30 cal CF and being granted 30cal, same again with a 17 cal, also had land calibre increased, not hugely but they listened to reason and actioned the request on why i asked to increase. So they are not all as dumb as the person that you have raised in your post, i would certainly be asking to speak to someone who knows what they are talking about, and i would make it clear why. He was delighted with their efficiency in renewing his SGC. Many thanks, All. Edited 19 hours ago by wymberley
pigeon controller
Currently in the process of renewing my shotgun cert after thirty years of certified shooting and received two letters informing me that if it goes passed the expiry date I may have to put my guns in the hands of a RFD. I have no control over the time they take to process.

Eight weeks, the delay was due to receiving the medical report which took four weeks.

If you got it in the full 8 weeks beforehand, then they have to get it renewed or issue you an extension. If it was under 8 weeks then they can insist you store your Firearms/Shotguns. The key is the exact date of the 8 weeks. Edited 4 hours ago by Newbie to this
