Gordon R
One of my sons' mates, who shoots with us, landed his Cosworth on the East Lancs Railway over 20 years ago. He managed to get over the Armco and concrete bridge with some ease. He got sued as they had to cancel the steam train trips.

Stimo22
Some years ago when I worked in the rail industry we had car leave a road and hit a sleeping car vehicle at window height. It when in half way and only the driver was killed, how it happened we could never find out Edited February 7 by Stimo22
udderlyoffroad
2 hours ago, JKD said: Begs the question,,,, How did the concrete wall not stop this incident ? 🤔 Hard to tell from the picture but appears to be a barrier jutting up, unsupported albeit 4” thick according to the article. So I’d suggest 1.5+ tonnes’ worth of car, going any sort of speed would translate its energy into quite a battering ram against what is effectively an unbraced slab. Gordon R
He was lucky. After going over the barrier and wall on the bridge, there is about a 20 feet drop onto the railway line.Always had fast cars, but I don't think he had the ability to drive safely and fast in his younger days. What saved him was not wearing his seat belt. The driver's area was crushed, but he was thrown onto the passenger side. Stupid to drive without wearing the belt, but right result. Now totally law abiding and a top lad. He is also a very decent clay shot. Edited February 7 by Gordon R

JKD
2 hours ago, TIGHTCHOKE said: Begs the question why was he driving his car on a footpath over the railway line................................................. It does look like a footpath, but even so, those concrete panels really don't look sufficient for their purpose ! 🤔 Hey ho,,,, someone's vehicle insurance premium is going up soon, once the driver gets their licence back 😆 What a claim to fame 🤣

The (allegedly) drunk driver should never have got his car on to the footpath.

So what did you mean?

But he's lost it whilst on the road and left the road side ways and gone across the footpath and though the panel is how it looks to me.
