They were alright and my grand daughter thought I bought them , from where I do not know , what I did learn was not to scrimp on the make of pastry roll , the one I used was Tesco's own brand as they didn't have the Jus-Roll one I used last week , nothing wrong with it and it was only a matter of pence cheaper but just didn't feel or look the same . Handy when you get a couple of paler ones for the people who don't like there ones overdone , mind you I rarely see anyone so that is unlikely to happen , not only that , this time tomorrow night they will all be digested 😛

I have got some game to use up so next week it will be another pie , this time I will make sure the pie bird have got his beak poking through the crust for fresh air 😛 10 minutes ago, ditchman said: pork and leek go together good did your grandaughter like them ....was she impressed ?..............tell her you are on a Whatts app cooking group....she will be impressed then.. She ate most of one while they were nice and hot but I think she was more impressed with half a pizza I done , I done two bits and she had them both as she didn't want a sandwich I bought yesterday , so the pizza took priority over my sausage rolls , it will be a while till she get asked to come over again for a natter and a bite to eat , unless she like a game pie

Getting the right amount of pastry to sausage meat is proving a nightmare, the meat is in a tube and weighs a pound, so much more pastry needed. Getting the right amount of pastry to sausage meat is proving a nightmare, the meat is in a tube and weighs a pound, so much more pastry needed. When I make sausage rolls, I use Jus-roll puff pastry (https://www.jusrol.co.uk/products/puff-pastry-sheets/). One sheet, rolled thinner (bigger area), then a sausage meat (I use 1 400g pack of this. https://www.porkywhites.co.uk/product/porky-whites-sausagemeat) mixed with the breadcrumbs from one standard crust (ans a few spices). Spices I use to 400g of sausage meat are; Onion salt, 1 tsp ; Garlic powder, ¼ tsp; Mace, ¼ to ½ tsp; Sage, fresh chopped or dried, ½ tsp; Thyme, fresh chopped or dried, ½ tsp; Black pepper, ground, ½ tsp; White pepper, ground, ½ tsp; Worcester sauce, 2 tsp; Tabasco sauce, ½ tsp. I am not really the person to judge as I have only used one roll of each , but one of the members said they used Jus-Roll so that was what I bought to begin with, at the time they were on offer in Tesco's for about £1.60 , I wasn't that bothered about the few pence you saved on the offer but that was the first time I had ever used it , I followed the instructions about taking it out of the fridge for ten minutes before you used it and it seemed to work well and for the first attempt I was happy with the results although it took a bit longer than stated but that didn't make much difference. I then went in after another roll and they had sold out of the ones I bought so I got there own brand which was £1.35 so not a lot of difference price wise , again I took it out of the fridge a good ten minutes before I unrolled it but it didn't seem so pliable as my last one and would spilt if you tried to stretch it bit , other people who use it all the while might find it different and I will try other makes when I get more used to it , let us know how you find it T C . TIGHTCHOKE Posted Tuesday at 10:02 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 10:02 Oh MM I am severely disappointed in you, it (Jus-Rol) is on offer in WAITROSE for £1:35 with a free coffee.

I did get my free coffee Sunday ( more than one ) but didn't think of looking for the pastry roll , I am a bit disappointed in myself in not keeping up with the offers , if the weather is alright I might well be heading in that direction Sunday , from mine it is nearly a 60 mile return trip so I need to get a bit more than a roll of pastry , I won't need any more till I sort some of my game breasts out and that will be about mid next week , even I can only eat so many sausage rolls 😛
