CEREALTHRILLER
I agree in part, in that I don't like to see snobbery and people being put down because they haven't got a posh gun (or house or car) However the other thing I can't stand is b******t cloth cap inverted snobbery. It's just as bad. If a bloke has worked hard, made a few bob and wants to buy himself a 9000 Krieghoff then get over it. I like to own nice things, problem is I can't afford to these days. If I had a lot of cash, I would buy a Krieghoff. If I had a bit more cash than I do, I'd buy a DT10. I know it doesn't make me shoot any better, but I like nice things. I'm not a snob and I wouldn't ridicule somebody else, because they shoot with a Baikal, but if they ridicule me because I shot with a Krieghoff, they'd learn some new language . Green-eyed envy and jealousy is just as bad as pomp and swank. Just because a bloke has an expensive gun and a big house, doesn't automatically mean he's a ********. It certainly doesn't mean he can't shoot, I'm not quite sure where that assumption comes from. Well put sir

BaikalsRule90
Buy a Baikal and annoy them even more Make it worse by it being a semi-auto and invite yourself to their clay/game events forget funny looks for having a cheap gun at a clay ground.... hows this... some snobby birk came up to me and said "surely they could let you borrow a better gun than that" as they left a stand and i unslipped MY gun luckily however he brought shame to his DT10 on the remaining stands. Maybe I came across wrong, I didn't mean a man with nice stuff is a ****head, I have no problem with people with loads or no money at all, I like to treat everyone the same. I have a few properties, decent car but a cheap gun. It's a choice I make, others may not be in a position or have the luxury to make that choice. My point is why look down at someone for any reason. The beauty of this sport for me, and I am reasonably new to it, is that you meet an array of people from all walks of life. For me it's a privelage to meet anyone. So I say it again, I personally think people who put others down for reasons such as owning a cheap gun are in my opinion ****heads. Nial
Why have a nice car?Why have a nice house? Same thing. (I don't have a nice car, or house or gun BTW) A nice car is generally faster/quieter/handles better. A nice house might be bigger/more rooms/better garden/better neighbourhood. All things worth paying for. I'd like to be a good enough shot to appreciate what extra paying £9K for a gun gets you. Anyone? Nial It doesn't get you anything, except a nice thing to own and a load of gob from the bolsheviks I play classical guitar badly, but I own a very nice Spanish guitar. Ridiculously expensive, doesn't make me play any better, but it's a beautiful thing to own. At the end of the day, it's about enjoying yourself, and getting pleasure from shooting, and enjoying the company of those we shoot with. There are those who have worked hard or been fortunate, who can afford the fancy guns and fair play to them, and there are also those that need props for their self-esteem. Snobbery is always based on insecurity. Rhiannon

Mungler
I have read on many occasions how last weekend someone non specific went to a non specific part of the country where are non specific group of people (who were specifically dressed in tweeds) and who were driving non specific (but specifically expensive) 4x4's and who then: 1. frowned at or belittled the use of a [insert choice of [a] pump action semi auto [c] hammer gun [d] Baikal / cheap shotty] 2. refused to [insert choice of [a] pick up their empty cartridges stop speaking loudly] It's all ******. I have never seen anyone be rude to anyone at a clay ground about anything let alone whether their gun was expensive or nice enough. However, on a final word I would like to clarify that I do consider that Lanber shotguns are for gypsies and people who smell of wee.
