Ozzy Fudd
just traded in the benelli montefeltro tonight and got a benelli nova 12 ga; got fed up with the montefeltro being tempermental when firing 28 gram 7.5's and lost out in the top spots at a clay shoot on saturday because of it  so decided to go for a good old pump action is there anything i should look out for with these? cheers
lurcherboy
The gun is indestructible. My one has been underwater, buried in mud, pressure washed when it got realy dirty. Parts can be a problem and never lose the recycling spring. It may only cost £1.00 but it took me months to get a replacement. You have PM. funky
i have a montefeltro and have never had any problem with it cycling a 28gm 7.5 I may be wrong on this but all Benelli's have the same inercia system for cycling the rounds .... any way it is a nice bit of kit that nova best of luck old chap
Ozzy Fudd
its an old style montefeltro, its inertia driven, some brands of shells work ok, others dont, could just be the gun itself but got fed up with it anyway cheers lb
mudpatten
I use a Nova as the cripple stopper in the punt. A task that usually destroys a shoulder gun within a few seasons. Despite immersion in salt water, liberal quantities of mud inside the action and some horrendous knocks it refuses to break. Almost indestructible. throdgrain
My mate bought a 24" barrel Supernova the other day, I tried it on sunday, it's a nice gun. I have a Benelli myself and two pump action guns, but the Supernova is still on my list as a gun I want to buy.
Ozzy Fudd
good i like indestructible gun quick (and stupid) question, what way are the chokes marked? is it the more marks the tighter the choke, or the less marks the tighter the choke? cheers  edit - should point out its 2nd hand, got the original box and all with it but no booklet and havnt had time to track one down yet Edited April 9, 2009 by babbyc1000
marlin vs
Afriend of mine has one of those bennelli's and is after getting nothing but trouble with it, it's alway's catching the empty cases.
utectok
not sure how easy shooting clays with a pump action will be? Might it not ruin your swing doing all the pumping? I have read that somewhere. good luck
Ozzy Fudd
after the montefeltro started jamming last weekend i used the mossberg 500 pump, if id used it from the start i mightve won  tho tbh its mostly game/vermin i shoot, only go to the odd clay shoot for a laugh and a bit of practice

hambone
Suprised you had problems with the Montefeltro and 28 gm's, had no prob with mine but it's still quite new. Do they become more ammo fussy with age/use ?
Ozzy Fudd
its an old style montefeltro with the chokes on the outside/end of the barrel, i got it 2nd hand so i dont know how old it was, though it was in good condition. cycled 32 gram 6's without a problem but wouldnt always cycle 28 gram 7.5's out of the magazine, dont know what was wrong with it tbh anyway, the plus point is that because ive bought another benelli i dont have to change my signature now... throdgrain
Shooting clays with a pump action is much easier than you'd think, and it looks good too  Plus if you miss you have a built-in excuse, and if you win you did it despite having a handicap. So it's win-win really The chokes are like Berettas, the more notches, the wider the choke. throdgrain
Thanks a lot It was made in 1976, so about 32 years old . Its the Wingmaster, at the moment with a fixed mod. choke. I really like it
Ozzy Fudd
Bloody hell.. I would have stayed with the Mossburg i still have the mossberg you twit when i was talking about buying a new one i meant i was going to trade in the benelli and buy a brand new mossberg, so id have two of them! but apparantly its a problem getting new mossbergs at the mo, so i bought the benelli pump :( very nice remy, defo in better condition than my mossberg
deadeye
congrats. as has been stated repeatedly, it is an extremely rugged, dependable design. i personally would greatly prefer one to a mossberg. i think that it is a good step up from a mossberg in terms of quality and design. Ozzy Fudd
Hey Babby can you get these in left handed :( there is a wingmaster l/h on guntrader and i am tempted but would prefer benelli hmm honestly dont know, i was trying to search google but the firewall in work has most gun related sites blocked, think ive seen left handed benelli montefeltro semi's lately (the new model) but not sure of the pumps, check benelliusa.com, sorry
throdgrain
I'm left handed it doesnt make any difference with pump action guns, just get the std one if you want my advice. With the Rem you have to change the safety button, but I shot that right handed Benelli left handed the other day, no worries.
