rotweil -the primers are deep set. but hit ******** hard.

rio- are actually good and cheap. never had much of a problem with them. they look cheap. but do the job

I like the ones that break clays and kill pigeons. :D

:good: and cheap!

I've not found much difference really, if you have the right sort of weight/shot size for the job in hand. I tend to shoot game with Express Pigeon Specials but I think that is me just being silly, probably all of the carts mentioned about would do the job. Only once is I not like D+J carts in one gun and I had an issue one with a few from 1 batch of Eley firsts with faulty primers.

It is quite easy to too hung up on so many matters. Not trying to de-rail this thread,,,,,, the other day The ground manager/RFD informed me he set most of the traps for long range and so I need 1/2 choke on a semi. I had forgotten my chokes and key just had in what was there last - I shot a round of sporting clays with my skeet choke in a semi and retained my good average! Was it luck or did it make naff all difference what choke was in?

Favourite - Hull FITASC Sovereigns, real cracking kills with these and a real confidence booster for me personally (one less thing to think about when your in the stand). Pricey though at about £192 per thousand.

Out of stock recently at Eastern Sporting where I buy from so tried some Eley superbs until the Hulls are back in and very very impressed. Not silly in price either at £156 per thousand.

Least favourite - Kent Velocity, Gamebore XLR and BlueDiamonds

Best budget cartridge for me has to be the Eley Firsts, a cracking cartridge for the money.

Recentley purchased some Hull Three Crowns black paper cased 16's, 26gram of 6. Without a doubt the sexiest looking cartridge I have ever seen. Not shot any but sure they will be smooth as a baby's bottom!

I have some rottweil waidmansheills for the 16 too and eley alphamax's both 32 gram, give a good kick but very good loads. RC 16's are very punchy and had a few dodgy batches of late too, express 25 gram loads are smooth as are eley grand prix's.

Shot a good few ducks with alphamax bismuth last few seasons and are good performers. Just got latest eley catalogue through and it seems as though they have revamped the entire bismuth range now under VIP brand.... not seen any for sale anywhere as yet though but it does seem that eley may be doing a bit of a non toxic push with the lead bans coming into force in scotland and ireland.
