sorry for the let down

This is for the lads that joined me on a "pigeon shoot today",im sorry you didnt get much sport.I know i dont need to post this but i always feel guilty when the day turns out ****. At the end of the day i know you all enjoy having a chance to give the pigeons a try,and an empty field is better than watching the goggle box,but it bugs me knowing you have all made an effort and drove a long distance in some cases and you end up seeing more butterflies than pigeons. After we had all packed up shooting unclemicky and I drove just behind the field we had set up on and yes,the rest of the rape and barley had been cut yesterday by the looks of it.These fresh cut fields were full of pigeons and crows so this explains the lack of birds.

To anyone that wonders why i volunteer to take people out,i do it because im so fortunate to have so much permision, and if i cant share a bit of my good fortune with those less fortunate than myself its a bad do. Yes i do pest control for a living but this pigeon shooting is unpaid sport.

Mods sorry to whaffle on and i hope this post is in the right section if not feel free to move it

paul

Thats something that happens to us all no matter how much knoledge we think we have about our sport.

Im sure the lads were glad of the chance to get out and about and still enjoyed the day .

I spent 4 hours driving around my grounds yesterday, set up on virtualy nothing, dozed off in the sunshine as it was dead, but was still good being out and about.

Thanks for the encouraging words lads.Perhaps i should have worded this post a bit better,i know none of the lads felt let down, and i know they are glad of a chance to shoot. Its just the way it made me feel ah well eh onwards and upwards as the say.If lads are willing to come out, im willing to help out, just need to stop beating myself up.

This just typifies Paul, he pull's all the stops to ensure you have a sucessful day out. I, Like unclemicky and others, have had the pleasure of of Pauls invites a couple of times now, and i now consider him to be a good friend, rather than just a forum member who offers shooting to the less fortunate.

I have picked up so much from him, as he is always prepared to show you the correct way of doing things and always has an explanation for it. He sure does make the 152 mile round trip worth while. I, and my shooting buddy Unclemicky have as yet, drawn a blank in our search for a permission so it's basically down to Paul's invites that's kept our interest in the sport going, by enabling us to sample this fantastic sport of ours.

You don't have to feel guilty mate, Hopefully see you on the 12TH :good:

I completely agree with you NICK76, top bloke is Paul. Some great advice and knowledge that he shares. Although I dont have to do the 152 mile round trip, I agree, it is well worth it. If I had the choice to do it, I certainly would.

Thanks again to Paul for all the shared advice.

Sam :good:

Its not about how many pigeons you shoot or Shots you fire , its about getting out there and having a go,

I had a VERY well known name in Pigeon and Game shooting over for a day on Spring beans

O M G !!!!! He fired one shot , that was at a rabbit that poped its head out ten yards from his hide ,

so i can see where you are comming from

"Thats pigeon shooting"

Can we go back to the comments on the stilton and bacon sarnies please - Sounds great!!

mmm wonder how you got the name lol

Right it just grilled smoked bacon topped with a slice of stilton dont grill the stilton just let the heat from the grill soften it.leave to cool then prepare a sarnie with a splash of reggae reggae jerk sauce.enjoy

if some one wants to move this post feel free, and blame Fatcatsplat
