  1. I have bought some lights, from and auction, to go in shedshop. I didnt see them before hand so my fault i guess. Problem im having is they all have this battery back up emergency light goings on. all i want is on/off Can i wire them in without using the battery side of things, just plain and simple on and off. Any help offered would be grand. thank you for your time Phil.
  2. Glad this post came up. My camels are almost on their last legs after 7 year. The soles are wearing thin. I have had seeland, never ever again. Had them replace a number of times. Last pair are 15 months old. Worn ones a fortnight on the shoot. They are not tight on foot but they have a split down the back and both the soles are falling off. Never ever again. Now I'm looking at the Angles before the camel's or mucks. Cheers gents
  3. Colin. I have a crack jack here for you. Runs on a couple d cells if I remember rightly. I'll see is I can find a wire as well. We use to put a wooden post in ground and then just a fencing staple to hold the wire. It worked fine for the time I used it to stop deer around the feed spinners.
  4. have a few fallow but no where like that. she wasnt happy, you can see it on the hips. take off at the joint and then hang them to dry. i bet you get a few shilling for them off ebay
  5. Hahahaha! Funny you should say that. NJC what rifle have you being built at the moment.lol. He gave up waiting for it and has ordered a 22-250 sako. Guess what gun I might be buying cheap. Hehe
  6. not when there 400 ewes and their lambs in a 20 acre paddock. The farmer leaves the gates to all the paddocks open but the sheep always seam to stay in the same paddock. It's always been a challenge, they will not call as they will run, red light on to Lang and they run. When a fox kills a lamb all the others surround the fox. Found a few rounds that do not exit, theres the 55 varmageddon from the 243, the 95 Vmax from the 6.5 and the 40sbk from the 223. All being run flat out, the 95vmax was stick bolt in the sako. Fine in the Tikka. Side on there has not been an exit. But NJC being NJC, he doesn't hold on to a rifle for long as the wow factor or boredom hits. (Sorry NJC)
  7. Sat and had a good think about his NIC, I know what and where you want them for, top of hill. In around the ewes and lambs, exit is an issue. But, so is the wind up there. Fortune I think has it. 55gn, running 36-3700, zero at the 200. Just under 5" drop at 300. Point and shoot, maybe a slight hold off on the wind. 55gn noslar varmageddon over 35-36.5gn of varget. Stable in all temps. Summer winter
  8. secondhand the question i would be looking for is how good are the bores. the tikka would be my first thoughts but i would go with which one has the best bore.
  9. strip all oil out of the bolt. acetone or paraffin will do the job. only use dry lube. Tikka recommend to use none but i use dry graphite. once clean, assemble but dont put the shroud on. with the allen key still in the back, slowly turn so the pin starts to show in the bolt face. is it getting caught on one side. if it is then your pin might be bent. there was also a bad batch of ammo with the primers seated to deeply which stops the primer anvil activation correctly and then no matter how many times you ping the primer, it will not fire. PPU i know had a bad batch. there was someone else but i cant remember who it was.
  10. Scales every time. I know a few use the Lee scales. I use to. But soon found out that I could have use a dipper as it was just as accurate (inaccurate) I tried a few sets of electronic scales. They worked, just never held zero and I was forever resetting them Ended up going back k to what I know and that the rcbs 10-10 scales. You can also look for ohaus as they are the makers of rcbs scales, just cheaper
  11. Top draw Colin, well done, glad you finally landed on some.
  12. I have had it in the past, i use to take a lot of people off here and met a few good people. I have have even sorted land out for others who are less fortunate. The ones that really **** me off are the ones that do it blatantly and think it's Doggie dog or don't think your find out or notice. I take very few people out now. I have the group off here I try to accommodate a few times a year and I take people out as favour returns, but I will not offer anyone else now and still watch a few people I know as well. I do pay for shooting rights on a few bits of land. It's a case of the farmers wanted payment from someone, I either pay or lose it to someone else. They have a business, and struggling at times so every penny counts for them so if they have something that others want then so be it. On on patch I pay for its run as a business and money needs to change hands for the insurance side of things.
  13. For beaters day then yes, any other day then no. Have to understand that some people only shoot pheasants one day a year. The rest of the time they shoot pigeon or wildfowl and can not afford a traditional style shotgun to sit in the cabinet for the rest of the year. If only two are loaded and the person next to them is show clear after each drive then I have no problems what so ever. But mess up once and its back to the car. Then before gun goes on the wagon, or put away for mid day snacks/lunch, then I want to see it's empty. One more job on the day but I'm not going to spoil their day just because of tradition, the have worked hard during the year for not alot of reward
  14. Out of interest, can mig welding tips be used as they have the hole already
  15. Only 250, but it wasn't happy much beyond that. Group opening very quickly. for fox I wouldn't go past 200. No real need at night. Rabbits at 250 where fine, bullet has slowed down enough and head shots left a good carcuss. Wth small deer I wouldn't go much past 100. But then its the stalk with them and not the shot. The cz I have at the moment I wouldn't go past 100. Still playing with bullets. Really I should just get the new barrel on but timing is wrong. I have a 1:9 to go on but then its not really going to be the traditional 1:14.
  16. The thing is with reloading is it becomes a hobby all by its self. Now matter what you buy now, you will change things as you go. I started with a Lee reloader. You have to use new brass or cases that have been fired in you rifle. Then you take a hammer and smack a primer out and then with hammer you smack a new primer in, drop powder in and the take the ammer and smack a bullet in. Can't get much simpler that that. I use to shoot 1/2 moa in a .222 so showed me you don't need to spend loads to dot the eyes I have spent a lot on reloading kit as the 'need' gremlins kick in. Simple Lee O press. Good scales. Lee champer tool is fine as it the Lee case lenght trimer and primer pocket cleaner. Lee Powder thrower and a cheap tricker. Lee dies are also fine, in fact I prefer them for my needs.
  17. I beg to differ on the 69gn @ 1000. yes in a 1:8 twist but not in the standard 1:12. i run the 1:12 and know what it can and cant do. please dont get confussed with the 1:8 and 1:12
  18. I had a mitz outlander. Worker ok. I did like the motor. 2.4petrol/Lpg it did 22 mpg but it drove around the feilds ok. It's no Landover but if was ok,I miss the LPG. And it was easy to drive Had a lwb pajeo, best 4x4 ever. Got me in and out of plenty a sticky hole. 16mpg was not good. Had a couple Honda crv's. Ok mpg. Ok on the feild. Got the one around a few sticky mud tracks with road tires so not all bad. Looked at x-trail. I didn't like the clocks in the middle of the dash. Mpg was ok. All the garages I spoke to said they don't like stocking them as they are nothing but issues. That put me off one. A mk3 is good that say but couldn't find one under 5k I have ended up with a Kia Sportster mk2 facelift. I was very surprised I ended with it but. 35mpg. Part time 4x4. With diff lock. Good boot space. And known for its towing of horse box, I thought when not. It works for my needs, not put it in the brown stuff yet but I dare say I will end up in some soon.
  19. ******, I missed woodlander saying he was thinking of selling the sako. How much woodlander. Hehe
  20. If I remember rightly Colin, it's the one Richard uttings designed. We inquired as to 17rem but it looks like it will not handle the amount of gas from the rem. It does look very sweet. Also they are changing the purple baffles of the whisper, flat dark earth was the last I saw. Long trip over there for you Colin
  21. yes the triple deuce was the bench rest rifle of choice and still holds many records. Please don't get confused with an above post about distances and shooting. I think the bit that's been missed is the twist rate. Yes the 223 will fly past the 600 yard range but only in the 1:8 twist. Which are rather had to come across second hand and mostly a special order if new. Unless there's one on a shelf some where. The norm is 1:12 twist that a 69gn bullet will be about Max and around 500 yards its lost its edge. .222 normally is 1:14 with max bullet weight of 52grain. Some get the 53vmax shooting but TS a little hit and miss if it will run. When you get out to 400 you soon know if its worked. I run both calibre's. Theres been plenty of photos on what these two calibers will shoot and capable of on here. It's down to what ammunition is available locally for the OP. Both very capable. Both are roe deer legle cross the wall and very capable on fox. If you have the money then look for a new Shultz and Larkin as for the money, you probably will not find better. I'm not going any further that that as it upsets some and they go emotional and defensive.
  22. Regular leave because, O I C, your fishing now. Hehe
  23. Nothing, nothing at all. I like howa's. Just I like fishing too and team tractor bites every time. Lol. Then he gets upset because he realises I have been pulling g his strings. If it's what you can afford and you like it then buy it. It will do you proud. It's like cars, some like fords, I hate them, others like the vw, without the choice we would be all the same and nothing to wind each other up with. No matter what one picks, someone will say it's pants, like cz's
