Having lived and worked in the US I can tell you there are many different words, just take a car, Fender, trunk, hood, shift, gas pedal, wind shield, headers etc. They put an extra "r" in carbu-rater. And don't start me off on their spelling https://www.spellzone.com/blog/Sixty_American_English_Words_and_their_British_English_Counterparts.htm

I keep saying this until I am blue in the face but I will keep on saying it till the message gets across. Jeremy Corbyn was our MP when we had the house in Tufnell Park. The man is bone stinking idle, he is arrogant and totally disinterested in being an MP, he just wants the pay. He couldn't be prime minister in a million years because it would involve having to get up in the morning and actually work. Something he has never done in his life.

I had to inform my insurance company under "any modifications" that I had a towbar fitted. It is a notifiable modification apparently. First question back was who fitted it? I replied factory fitted at time of purchase when new. Second question back was what do you tow? Enterprise Dinghy and Gobur folding caravan. Third question back, please give details of weight, length, width etc. which I did reply back OK

You cannot tow any vehicle on a motorway even with an A bar or front wheel trolley but you can recover a vehicle from a motorway to next exit or place of safety. There has been endless discussion about this subject (and a lot of conflicting views) on motorhomes forums. Apart from anything else most insurance policies exclude towing these days if you check the very small print. Even towing a boat or a caravan you have to tell them and get it cleared You still see motorhomes towing small cars, usually Dutch, but people have been nicked in this country and the usual advice is don't

The key to this election is Farage, he is the king maker. If he fields candidates against the Conservatives in their heartlands he will split the leave vote and scupper Boris and Brexit. If he only fields candidates against Labour, Lib Dems and SNP safe seats he can sap their vote. He can't win the election for himself but he holds most of Boris's cards.

I good friend of mine was/is a serious night fisherman. He said several times you see some funny lights in the sky at night but refused to say anymore because he knew he would get his leg pulled endlessly till the end of time, as I suspect you will now.

I totally agree, top up benefits only benefit the employer and should be done away with in favour of a decent minimum wage. They also encourage the black economy where already vunerable people only seek cash in hand work so they don't lose benefits. Scrap the 16 hour rule for a start

Very light bullet in 223, anyone got experience ?
Vince Green replied to robbiep's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
I have no experience of what you describe but the generally perceived wisdom is that light bullet/HV loads are fussy. You might get lucky and find a sweet load that your rifle likes. Even then your mate's rifle might hate it. My advice is go for it, its always fun to experiment even if it a flop, but accept it is an experiment. -
I know of a shop that was in what had once been a much older house, they had damp floors and it turned out there was an old abandoned cellar that had filled with water. You have to be careful with floors in Cornwall as you probably well know.

I have reported several people to HMRC, one in particular more than once. I don't think my reports were ever followed up. Nothing seemed to change. OK, I will be the first to admit they were business competitors and my motives were not as pure as the driven snow but I provided more than enough evidence for an investigation.

Classic Labour tactics when they can't think of anything else

A lot are going to jump before they are pushed, and a lot more are going to get pushed because they did not jump

I disagree I have family in Germany (my step sister) and my mothers family came from Germany many years ago so I have always taken an interest. The one thing I can tell you is that Germany and UK are chalk and cheese. The Germans still believe Germany is the master race although they are more guarded about saying so. Britain still believes we are a Colonial power to be reckoned with. we will never see eye to eye

Or an old Nissan Micra or Honda Jazz

Hi Private Marker! Good to see you on here. Lots of issues around driving minibuses on D1, very unclear who can and who can't. They take seats out and say that's legal but others say the seats still count, taking them out doesn't chance the spec of the vehicle. Other question is what about all the people who take all the seats out to convert to campers but don't alter the registration category which is hard to do Other issues around volunteer drivers for charity. Its a minefield

Just dig in with ebay, they always back the buyer

I agree That goes back to the Orwellian concept of Socialism. My experience of socialism (over decades as a trade unionist) is that most advocates talk of redistribution and "power to the people" but as soon as they get as much as a whif of power they morph into Robert Mugabe. Most socialists I have encountered seem motivated by hate and envy rather than high ideals and philanthropic motives. The ones that aren't are usually soppy idealists with rose tinted glasses. That explains my journey to the right

Peterloo was a political protest just after the Napolionic Wars that was broken up by soldiers and a lot of people were killed. It was the start of the protest movements that brought about the social reforms and parliamentary reforms, workers rights etc So no guessing his political leanings

No Gordon its about which way you are likely to vote and its about as subtle as a brick. Simple vote rigging, something labour have shown themselves very willing to indulge in.
-
Many of the SNPs principal figures hail from the loony left so no I wouldn't.
-
Yes and some want the vote to be withdrawn once you reach 70. No prizes for guessing why in both cases
-
The thing is, nobody is ever described as just being on the right these days. The term far right trots off their lips like a mantra all the time
-
Far Right is anybody that disagrees with "certain factions" its the insult of choice at the moment for the use of people too inarticulate to justify their point of view
-
Anyway, the next Brexit Debate in Parliament is probably off now because of the death of Al Bagdhadi. Jeremy Corbyn has got to go and lay a wreath

That goes hand in hand with the suggestion that sixteen year olds should be allowed to vote. Yes of course it is a plot, the people who want it wouldn't be suggesting it otherwise
