Best to take a long term view, my van is now ten years old and has depreciated ten thousand pounds. That's only a grand a year, at the moment I can see no reason why it shouldn't last another ten years. That's virtually ten years free motoring to look forward to. OK its going to need some repairs probably but I can live with that. .

There are still places in the world where if you rock the boat, you can expect this fate. Its a very thin line between brave and stupid

Ford are doing some incredibly good deals at the moment, no deposit and 0% finance, it works out cheaper than buying second hand if you take a long term view over say ten years. Scrappage schemes are only an enhanced trade in/discount. There is no official scrappage deal going on at the moment. Don't appear to be too keen, tell them you really want to talk to Kia before you make a commitment. That will get their back up, hover, blow hot and cold. These guys have quotas to meet and their jobs are on the line. Make them sweat, and they will come back to you with a better deal. It really is a buyers market at the moment I was offered £5 grand straight off the top for a Ford Kuga last week and I wasn't really that interested, I was just there to see what was on offer.

There is absolutely no possibility that any deal the EU would agree would be more beneficial to the UK than no deal. Without Britain's contribution the EU's sums don't add up, If they aren't worried they should be.

When I take my van on a long run I always put some redex or similar in the tank. Whether it does any good I don't know, running continuously for about 5 hours burns off the carbon anyway.

Yep and everybody is blackmailing everybody else because everybody has a guilty secret that could ruin them if it comes out. But viewers lap it up, the soaps get big viewing figures and earn big money.

70yds? The only way you would bring down a pheasant at 70yds is if it couldn't fly anymore for laughing or a 1000 to 1 chance lucky stray pellet to the right part of the head. Almost all driven pheasants are shot with fibre wadded cartridges, it would not be considered "the done thing" to turn up to a shoot with anything else. In fact at the top end shoots only paper cases are still the norm.

Yes but how risky a venture that was for her and her family? I have said this before, whatever the rights and wrongs, going to law is madness to prove a point Its actually much cheaper to get somebody whacked than it is to sue them in London.

Churchill insurance was started as an internet/ phone only insurance company by Credit Suisse to break free of the broker network who demanded high commission rates and held the industry to ransom because they only promoted the companies that paid them the most .commission. The name Churchill was plucked out of thin air after intensive market research found that to be the name that the General Public identified as being the most trustworthy The nodding dog was again the product of huge amounts of market research to identify a trusted figure. As was the logo Churchill was sold by Credit Suisse to RBS who already owned Direct Line and they operated them in tandem until the RBS bailout when they were merged formally as Direct Line and floated as a separate company but still owned by RBS. At this moment in time, I don't believe that Churchill or Direct Line actually underwrite any of their own portfolio. I believe they only act as middle men.

Most landlord insurers won't insure if tenants are on benefits these days.

Is reloading cost effective
Vince Green replied to amh1992's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
It depends what value you place on your time, time is the invisible cost to factor in. I would liken it very much to growing your own vegetables. Probably dearer than buying them at the end of the day but immensely satisfying -
The term "The People's" is clearly an attempt to make it appear its the people that want it. The idiot of which you speak is probably George Soros through one of his stooges.

+1 Scotland is not actually a country despite their delusions. You give her more credit than I would

A friend's wife who was a WPC said much the same, she was one of the first specialist officers when the Met set up what is now Sapphire. Its a common manifestation with some forms of mental illness. I think they can see through most of those fairly easily. There are also a lot of bogus allegations made against police officers which I would find a bit more scary if I was a copper.

Just wondered what the £80,000 was for? since as I understand it a sheriff court cannot fine it can only compensate.

There have been several cases of young men, Liam Allan comes most quickly to mind, where vital evidence was withheld by the police, apparently deliberately to get a conviction. Others, Isaac Itiary and Oliver Mears were treated very similarly. Another man was cleared after four years in jail after another officer reviewed the case file. There is a common thread running through these cases. Specialist rape officers on a mission, it appears

They sell goat in a lot of Halal butchers round London and also a few trendy butchers like those in Borough Market do it too. Its not as unusual as you might think.

Brit shot dead in hunting accident, France
Vince Green replied to chrisjpainter's topic in Off Topic
France, is a bit like US has 'unregulated' hunting where people can just wander round freely where they like. In Upstate New York people in rural areas used to send the family to stay elsewhere and bring the horses and cattle into the barn during deer season. People died every year -
OMG Nooooooooo!

The TV rights, sold around the world, probably made more than it cost many times over. Its no more than a Royal Family reality TV event. On a par with the Jungle or celebrity big brother but with a higher profile cast. For the BBC its an absolute gift, they just have to set up the cameras, they don't have to pay the 'actors', don't have to pay for the venue or the cars, or the security and the market for it around the world is knocking on the BBC's door wanting a slice

This is why getting a specialist solicitor on the case is so important, and so effective. Look at the financial pros and cons

I believe it to be the case that if the person has been in the home for two years when their money runs out the council can't ship them out ( Human Rights, the home has become their abode). Although a lot of Councils will no doubt try it on. We are just coming to that stage with a 101 year old great aunt, it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

If a person has a recognised illness such as dementia the NHS is obliged to pay for their care home and its not means tested, its called CHC. (Continuing Health Care). Very often NHS staff routinely deny the existence of CHC and tell families their relative is not entitled to have their care funded when they are. They try to palm them off onto the Council. However, if you employ the services of a specialist solicitor such as Compass to fight your case, suddenly all the problems may magically disappear and the NHS coughs up, assuming the case is valid. www.continuing-healthcare.co.uk
