  1. One piece dampa mount would be a wise mount to choose - I'm guessing that the HW also has the arrester holes along the top of the cylinder - you need to put the pin under the mount into one of these.
  2. Ooooooh - missed that little tantrum from HesHicks, been removed I'm guessing but thanks winnieandbezza for highlighting it. Whilst I have no interest in competing in a battle of wits with someone who is clearly unarmed might I point out that this is a public forum and if you don't like peoples opinions then move on but I might add that I have been using Airguns for over 40 years and have owned/used a great many of them, I have instructed Cadets in the art of Rifle shooting and I control vermin with one nearly everyday on a semi pro basis (also spent many years in the Aviation Industry in a precision engineering role) I hold a section 1 as well as SGC and explosives licence, when I'm not shooting I collect/restore pre 1900 English Hammer Guns. I was rather hoping that my experience would grant me a sound basis on which to make a judgement on the Gamo in question or, in fact, any other Gamo that I have ever encountered but if I am , in fact, "doing your head in" then I bow down to your clearly superior knowledge of Guns and eloquent use of the English language.
  3. Over a grand for a stubby barrel and pseudo GI Joe looks with a less than 50 shot count who is kidding who here? that's not to mention having to break the thing in half to cock it....second shot on a nervous rabbit would be nigh on impossible, designers always seem to go 2 steps backwards before taking one the right way, the leshy is both steps back in one go.
  4. Use them when decoying during the winter months but always with a crow decoy even when after pigeons - seems to give the pigeons confidence when coming into the pattern and quite often brings a crow in range as well.
  5. BSA do not have the ability to "offload" anything onto Gamo....Gamo bought BSA lock, stock and barrel in 1986/7 and have had complete control over it's manufacturing/assembling facility ever since.
  6. popa bear...reassuring to hear that you will do your very best for your Dog no matter what, with so much cruelty and neglect these days you deserve respect for your attitude and endeavours. Top Man.
  7. My local chap for my Saab...£40 MOT + £15 4ltr fully synthetic, £3.50 oil filter, £7 Air filter....does the oil while he checks the car for the MOT...total cost less than £70. Halfords do an oil sale early each year where most 4 ltr oils are £15 ( £18 for 2 ltr of the same oil instore) - order online and collect at your local branch a couple of days later.
  8. Cannot recommend the AA S410 highly enough but, as earlier, you might struggle to find one for £400 - save till you can find a decent one and chrono it before you buy it...bought one from a dealer that was doing 14ft/lb and had another one refused as a PX because it was over the limit - I never touched either of them mechanically.
  9. You might struggle to find a used S410 for £400 - might I suggest the Axsor that Bishop has for sale - doubt that you would lose any money on that if you ever decide to sell it on and , quality wise, gonna be a job to beat it.

    New Gundog

Simply chomping at the bit now.....going to get me a world class Gundog just like the Crufts winner.....gonna buy it first day in April.
  11. Axsor is a totally different kettle of Banana's - it's a quality act from the start from one of the industries best designers. Got a tenner says that your 9 year old Axsor will still be ventilating vermin another 20 years after the Gammy Pox has become part of some house wives prized fridge. The used one for sale by Bishop is an absolute giveaway.
  12. Was talking to an elderly gent at a local dealer the other day who had brought in a Webley service Air Rifle (nice), we got talking and he told me of a Rabbit that he had killed many years ago at over 80 paces - I'm guessing around the 70 yard mark. Shots like this prove nothing of the accuracy of the gun simply the irresponsibility of the man behind it. As for cost - the Gammy is cheap because that's what it is.....cheap. The only way to judge it's value will be in 5 years when you try and sell it, for example...RM8 can be bought for £399 and have been around since 2014, if you look hard you might find a used one for £350 - that's where quality and value come into play (in fact I have seen used examples for sale above the new price!!). So lets say you buy an RM8 new then go used for it's ornaments - nice Hawke 3 - 12 x 50 scopes have been on this site for £30, O.K. so it doesn't have it's box or that useless little piece of yellow cloth but it's still more than enough glass for Mr.Magoo to shoot hats off his sisters Barbie doll way into the evening. Used 3ltr 300 bar tank will be around the £70 mark and most people have a tank then simply buy a quick release connector to attach their latest guns probe to - I use 3 different PCP's all feeding off the one bottle. So an 8 shot PCP with decent glass on top and enough air to blow up the Klumps spare tyres for £500 is not that difficult.
  13. 232 bar fill gives around 85 shots....RM8 will give you 100 more, is about the same price and is screwed to a Lothar Walther tube - hammer forged do - da's may sound like the dogs but how many Gammys win FT comps. I do like some of the review comments where they boast the collaboration between the 2 companies - Gammy bought BSA out about 10 years ago. BTW winnie2457 - you get a years warranty on a pencil sharpener.

    bt charge

I'm pretty sure that our letter from BT said 30 days from being notified of the price hike?
  15. bruno22rf

    bt charge

If your contract has finished, it's finished. If the price you pay goes up during your contract then the supplier has deemed to have broken the terms of said contract and I'm 99% sure that the law now allows you to walk away - there can be no penalties. Once you have been informed of a price rise I believe you have 30 days to tell them where to shove it.
  16. bruno22rf

    bt charge

We went from TalkTalk back to BT and there was no charge for reconnecting - how can TT say that they "take over" the line surely all lines belong to BT and are maintained by Openreach. As for BT demanding a broadband cease charge, were you under contract with them when you cancelled because the price went up?

Do you mean Hiratas? Different ball game and way outside normal Diabetes. BTW my knowledge comes from having had type1 for over 30 years but now cured.

Interested in the term recalibrated - regardless of treatment, a low BS is a low BS and the body responds the same way? We must surely be talking specifically of low BS here as a diabetic can be quite unaffected by levels of 20+ ( normal 4 - 8), but obviously long term prospects are not good. I cannot understand how the dog prevents her being a "pin cushion" - surely if the dog alerts her she then takes a reading - which, had she done so in the first place, she would have no need for the dog? Regular testing is the name of the game and testers are small, fast and accurate. As for "Brittle Diabetes", well that's another as there are more often than not psychological issues at work.

With the greatest respect - Insulin levels do not fluctuate at all in Type 1 Diabetes - this is entirely dependant upon how much Insulin the patient administers and it is the blood glucose level that fluctuates if an incorrect dose is given/ calculated. Modern testers will give a 95% accurate reading in about 7 seconds and some even include a Bolas score that takes into account your carbohydrate intake and current levels and thus gives a suggested Insulin dose. On a different note surely the dog works on scent - I 'm no expert but surely all Diabetics emit the same scent when BS levels are low? NOT looking for an argument here....just like to know.
  20. The feeders I shoot are all metal with a (approx.) 3 sq ft metal backstop - they are filled with Wheat weekly and draw the Squizzers well - but if there is an abundance of natural food then results are poorer - we only shoot them in the winter months so normally natural food is scarce but with mild winters you are up against it.

'Going off on a slight tangent - we have "Medical Detection Dogs" charity close to us - always collecting money but I have yet to see or hear of one of their dogs ever saving anybody's bacon - they drive around in brand new vans with pictures of dogs emblazoned on the sides which cannot be cheap - they say that the Dogs can tell, for example, if a Diabetics blood glucose level is low so I took the opportunity once to stand my son next to one when his levels were just 2.8......not a blink from the Dog. I'm beginning to wonder if it's all pollacks.
  22. My shooting buddy of the last few years ran the Winerack whereas I use the 410, there is nothing that the 100 does significantly better than the AA to warrant the extra cost nor the times that Hull Cartridge have constantly failed to stop the 100 leaking. In the end he gave the 100 away in disgust and bought the AA S510 and now all is well. The 100 is stupidly accurate but then again so is the 410 as well as being kinder on the eye! My 410 is my go to tool for my semi pro pest control work and she simply does the job time and time again which inspires oodles of confidence, it has it's faults i.e. rubbish safety catch ( mine doesn't have one at all) and the bolt can be a little stiff if not greased once a year but 99.9% of the time if you put the crosshairs on the target she will perforate it for you.
  23. On the subject of cost - I'm on a course of Iron injections, our local Hospital charges my Doctors surgery £300 per injection ( course of 6) + £10 for each complication I suffer from on their list i.e. high blood pressure etc.
  24. I seem to recall that the Export was little more than a tricked up 35 but that the increased barrel length when used with the standard cylinder/spring/piston meant that the pellet was still in the barrel when the piston came to a stop - the inevitable piston bounce then caused a vacuum that slowed the pellet fractionally before it left the muzzle? I would love to read the Airgun World test from that era, I can remember waiting patiently every month, counting down the minutes, for the magazine to be on sale then blowing my pocket money on a copy, running home to read its hallowed pages and then sitting there 10 minutes later wondering why I had bothered
  25. I,m with Brodie - would the BASC not be better off petitioning the Gov concerning this unacceptable situation rather than studying to the nth degree how bad it is in each area? Shooters have been left with illegally held firearms in many cases where a sec 7 has not been issued, besides the time wasted actually issuing temp permits. We pay good money for a service that is simply not being provided.
