  1. Picked this gun up today-250+ mile round trip and nearly 5 hours in the car. Was it worth it? OMG yes-pictures do not do this gun justice-Stock of a quality that belongs on a £1000+ gun-capped pistol grip and Butt-skip line checkering and an unmarked side lock hammer action that is as tight as the day it was made-she is in outstanding condition and an absolute joy to hold-many, many thanks Robin, I don't know how you could sell her -I don't think I ever will.
  2. Ricky Dyson GM - miss him talking of his RAF days in Bomber command and receiving his GM from the king-Ricky was the bravest yet most unassuming and humble man I ever had the pleasure to meet ,RIP old friend.
  3. First of all I doubt that you have 3" of plaster!! If you drill a small hole, say 6mm, into the plaster and stop when it hits brick you can then measure the depth-add about 75mm and buy some throughbolts-ebay sell them-if you go for something like a 75mm bite in the wall and a 6 or 8mm studding then 4 of these should be fine-something like ebay item no 351404567178.
  4. I believe there is a recipe on this site where you bake the Sloes and use the concentrate to make the drink-we tried it a couple of years back and had 2 bottles nicked during a party after we had offered a taster to guests. Never tried vanilla but a tiny dash of Almond essence is superb. In all honesty though-the Lidl offering is by far the best I have tried when you consider the price-we intend to buy at least 10 more bottles.
  5. Unlikely to have been made by the name on the rib-most likely a Wibbly & Snot-made in their thousands in brum and sold to thousands of "Gunmakers" that never made a gun in their history.
  6. Father in law left us a sum of money-we paid off the mortgage and our various loans-invested in solar panels and gave the kids a grand each to spend on themselves (at our discretion) we could have blown the lot but we now live almost for nothing (compared to 5 years ago). We maxed out on premium bonds and spread the rest into several current accounts that pay 4% so the money is safe and working for us (albeit not very hard-better return on the PB's). When we snuff it everything goes to the 3 kids including several items (including guns) that will increase in value in the hope that they can buy houses for themselves. As for them maybe not appreciating the value of money because a chunk came to them free-when my eldest left school she had 5 part time jobs that have paid for her to get a degree-typical mind set of my sprogs. My other half and myself have known the sting of hunger and the threat of repossession and have had to resort to some underhand tactics to survive in previous years-the thought of my kids never feeling that type of fear is more important to me than any suntan or flash wheels.
  7. Often wonder which is the safer-a driver staring at the road doing 35mph or a driver staring at his speedo making sure he stays below 30?
  8. Now that's a rare beauty-I would struggle to let a gem like that go.
  9. IMHO-anything written by Colin Willock makes good reading.
  10. Wonder if he claimed on his Insurance when it was lost?-Wonder if he has let his Insurance company know that its been found
  11. .1mm sounds impressive but means nothing in real terms-if your scope is moving around that much then you are either firing a high powered rifle with cheese mounts or you have forgotten to tighten your mounts-in which case you can lap them till the cows come home-if you want ultimate accuracy from a scope then far more relevant is its position in relation to the line of the bore- You can also lap your mounts till your arm falls off and it will not make a blind bit of difference because the manufacturer holds all the cards here. While considering this you also need to know that ,on many guns, the scope mounting grooves were machined true to the bore. Finally-for those worried about scope movement-unscrew your scope rings then re-tighten them using only your thumb and forefinger on the screwdriver-now try and twist the scope-not easy even at this light torque-impossible when correctly tightened unless your mounts are total carp.
  12. Might be of some use if you shoot over very long ranges but for Airguns-cannot see the point-as for the mounts preventing the scope adjusting correctly-the interference fit is about the size of a gnats man sausage and normally well away from the adjusting mech. -unless you use 1" mounts on a 30mm scope or your scope is made of Jelly I doubt that the adjusters would be affected by a bit of pinching?
  13. I'm in Bucks-if you come this way a bit on your travels then I'm happy to meet up and buy her-txt'ed you btw.
  14. Don't forget to check the chamber length before using her-could be 65mm-2 1/2".
  15. Never seen a Silver one before-I seem to remember reading, many years ago, that a handful of these guns were made as "exhibition" models to advertise the marque at shows-could this be one of them?
  16. Whoops-I meant ESS puppies.... We have 1 Dog and 5 bitches for sale-liver and white, the sire is from a long line of FTch's but the dam is a rescue and has no history-all been dew clawed and docked-both parents retrieve, the instinct in the sire is very strong-retrieves and brings to hand despite never having been trained and is a very handsome dog-many comments have been made to this effect. Looking for £450 for the dog and £500 for the bitches but will discount for the right owner-would really like them to be working dogs as I believe this would be best for them-pics later. pm to register interest or view-Milton Keynes area.
  17. Bought 3 bottles this very morning-usually make my own but thought that, at £8 a throw, its worth a try. Initially I found it a little "hot" compared to mine but gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried a larger glass-the initial burn was definitely starting to subside but the bottom of the glass appeared before I could be certain-there was only one thing for it-2 more glasses and I found myself wondering why the hell I had ever married her let alone father the little sod that beats me clay shooping and makes his sifters larf at me* zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
  18. My comments regarding the show where simply to assure Ross that no-one gives a toss about the show or any stupid cow bleating on about animal cruelty whilst stuffing her face with Tofu burgers.
  19. IT WAS 13 YEARS AGO!!!! -and a one-off jobby at that-jeez-how many times have we all been drunk in the last 13 years and totally incapable of picking our own nose without poking our own eye out?-this is ridiculous
  20. We had a couple from the BHWT-hardly any feathers and had never felt rain or the sun on their backs-its a crying shame but they laid (huge) eggs from day 1 and within a couple of months they were beautiful looking , healthy birds-even if they had never laid an egg I would still have kept them.
  21. The Bucks County Show is a load of carp so why worry-snot even on a convenient day and its full of everything that has nothing to do with anything. Hate to think who foots the bill-for weeks before the show the council digs deep into our pockets and litter picks and mows the verges just this once to make visitors think we are a tidy county-billhooks-come here 6 months later and look at the state of the place-don't look from a vehicle though-when the pre show patches have broken away the pot holes that blight our county reappear.
  22. Ordered a 525 28" Browning in LH from a different dealer and waited 3 months because there were none in the country at the time-according to the dealer Browning were waiting for a batch of stocks from their suppliers?. After being let down for so long I tried Avalon and explained my problems-No problem at all they said-we will take a LH stock from a 32" gun and swap it over-simples-so no complaints from me.
  23. Any incarnation of the S410 is going to be the Dogs Danglies.
  24. Have a quick look at the cocking dog-the bit that sticks out from the forend and cocks the hammers-my Lanber wore the dog away in 3 years.
  25. I wouldn't go around putting Rabbits heads in Bean tins-some idiot is likely to miss read your post and report you
