  1. Only last Sunday when queuing to pay for the clay shoot the lady issuing the cards said to the bloke in front “what’s your name?” To which some bright spark from the back said “don’t tell him Pike”. A Classic line that will live for years to come. Alongside this line and from the same show I would add Private Frazer (John Laurie) “We’re doomed captain Mainwaring, we’re doomed”
  2. Is that one of those tinned Fray Bentos steamed steak pudding thingies?
  3. Thank you. Even with a Kickeezee recoil pad and light carts she kicks a bit for me. That’s why she’s dormant. Must be me age - I won’t see 80 again 😵‍💫
  4. I’ve a lonely SKB 200e SxS (made in Japan) lying dormant in the cabinet !!
  5. From what little I understand (having been an executor) the lady in question should be made aware that there are legal implications for her for not following the requirements of the will. Personally I would get legal advice to determine whether or not you are a beneficiary and, if so, whether the executor has fulfilled the wishes of the deceaseds. All very messy but to get to the truth certain actions cannot be avoided.
  6. Read post “Testing..Testing” for explanation
  7. The man is evasive and his whole approach is to deflect guilt. I doubt very much that he is a loose cannon within the BASC machine and his approach is therefore more than likely condoned by more senior folk there. Were it not for the fact that I am required to be a BASC member (my gun club and one of my permissions) then based on his performance on this forum I would have resigned my membership by now. From the BASC website “We are the ones who are here for you…” “Whatever you are facing we will stand with you…” “Together we are stronger…” clearly BSAC needs to practice what IT preaches.
  8. Been there. Seen it. Done it. Still got the scars. This type of situation is not new. Many moons ago, with others, including one of the major consultancy houses, in my then employment we installed a new financial system on new platforms. This meant parallel running was not possible. Therefore, End to end testing and cradle to grave testing was rigorous. Despite this, four days after Go Live the system fell over. Reconciliations were picking up transaction errors. But no individual or organisation had been adversely affected. It was a systems problem. When the dust settled we were able to demonstrate that while no cash had gone missing, numerous heads of charge had not been correctly debited / credited, including suspense accounts. Systems failures do happen but it is how they are managed that counts. It seems to me that between them the PO and Fujitsu must have known from the beginning of the roll out that things were not right. That they thought the could manage it, but when that became impossible decided to blame others and cover up their problems.
  9. 1. The cash would not need to be removed. As mentioned by the forensic accountant there was the use of a suspense accountant. Thus the double entry would be maintained in the central system but for some transactions the equal and opposite entry did not go to the correct head of charge (the PO branch) but to the suspense account, so branches would then appear out of kilter. 2. The PO would not need access to the cash. As both the Fujitsu whistle blower and PO Rep maintained there were operatives moving transactions in real time in the live system (presumably into / from the suspense account) in an attempt to rectify matters. Yes, there should therefore be an audit trail. But as they knew what was going wrong and hiding it, it’s integrity would be questionable.
  10. Two Nations divided by a common language. Also, they do not understand our sense of humour. A similar experience. Many years back at an Oracle Applications User Group conference in Phoenix Arizona two lady accountants from Ben and Jerry ice creams said to me “Robert, we do like our accent” to which I replied ”I do not have an accent. I am English”. Their response was classic, along the lines of “So sorry, of course, we should have realised that”.
  11. Just had my Renewal Due letter (due 15/04/2024). Avon and Somerset. Fees quoted currently are Firearm only £62 Shotgun only £49 Coterminous £65 Hopefully the GP Report will not be a pain or too expensive 🤞
  12. Agreed. YouTube “Cadbury Flake advert 1985” and you’ll see what I mean
  13. As per the recommendation wording. Google “Milbro Traditional catapult” plenty of piccies of Traditional original thumb press alloy metal frame
  14. Not Christmas dinner I know , but Mrs B does enjoy making her own Christmas cake, feeding it with brandy, then topping it with home made almond paste (marzipan). A tradition of many years and enjoyed by the family
  15. Agreed. No location given. But, if not too far from Bristol, I’d happily help.
  16. In his meeting with the Italian and Albanian Heads of State Sunak is saying that we are in danger of being overwhelmed by illegal immigrants which will soon destroy our culture and that much of it is being supported by hostile states keen on destabilising the West. It has taken him a long time to wake up. But, sadly, I fear they are words which will not be followed by actions.
  17. Bobba

    Bulge

Consult the manufacturer. Details on their website.
  18. To show beyond doubt that the gun is not loaded. Semi’s or pumps should have an orange safety breach plug / flag in place which has the same effect.
  19. The AA renewal is often a farce. A con to get more money from you. Over the years the renewal premium has always been significantly higher than the previous year so weeks before renewal I keep applying on line as a newcomer and look for offers and, surprise surprise, it is significantly lower than my renewal offer. So I ring them and say match it or I will take out as a new member and let the existing one lapse. Down comes the premium.
  20. As per title. Any recommendations for cleaning companies in SW England please? (And not “Thewaxjacketcleaningco” Ilfracombe. Company dissolved Oct 23) Or, do some of you DIY? Thoughts welcomed. Thank you.
  21. Agreed. Getting translations absolutely correct to the original language version is an important matter. As an example, I once worked for 15yrs in a job involving the application of European Regulations. These had to be in the languages of each member state and identical to avoid differences in application between member states. The draft copy, perhaps written in French, went to a French / English translator. Once done that English copy then went to a different English / French translator to be translated back in to French. That copy was then compared with the original French version to ensure no errors or omissions. To avoid any possible litigation issues arising from translation errors I’ve no doubt that international publishing houses would follow a similar process. I therefore agree with John that there was nothing “accidental” about this release with named individuals
  22. Not seen it but the write up seems to portray a similar story to The Great Escaper with Michael Caine. Anyone seen both?
