  1. nice shooting, off after the cubs tomorrow night then?
  2. look like woodies that have bred with ferals.......definatly not collard doves
  3. nice shooting, but i think too many people shoot without dogs these days! its our duty to retrieve ALL shot birds to make sure that they are dead!
  4. nice shooting, but out od curiosity how did you lose 8? seems pretty clear
  5. if anyone has one spare please let me know. ATB
  6. 16 so far since the end of the season Total 138
  7. yes one of ours is only 4ft by 2ft and 2ft tall, and it works fine a bit harder to get the lil blighters out for dispatch tho
  8. I hope not, that rabbit is full of Mixi, its eye is completly swelled over!
  9. I don't check it in the morning, I check it at night, whats the point in checking it when it should be catching??? If you want to taped by anti's beating up crows with 2x2 then you carry on lad. Being a Gamekeeper I can't afford to!
  10. The best way is to go in at night in the dark. Ignor the above posts as the law clearly states that you cannot dispatch them in front of the others......so take them out one at a time and go behind your vehicle and neck it, go back get another etc.....don't turn a perfectly legal method of pest control into an ilegal one by not dispatching within the law. ATB
  11. I dont get it. was this post origionly for the above or is it indeed for the airport?? And which airport is it?
  12. We have not broke the law 'my friend' if you read my post you may notice that i also said they were KILLING sheep!!! I posted this here to inform other keepers and Livestock owners what has happened on our shoot so that they know what they CAN do in regards to protecting livestock!!!!!!! I am not on this forum to be judged and you are not part of a jury. If you don't like what we have had to do then go away! The dogs were not microchipped and had no i.d tags so they could have been living wild for all we know. Oh and did you all know that you can shoot cats that have no coller on?? they are also classed as STRAYS
  13. The dogs would never get in the pen as they are too well built and have 3 strand electric fencing around the base. The birds arn't leaving the pen yet as they are our late poults for december shooting. The problem is the dogs patroling this and putting birds out of the pen (scaring them off roosting) then attacking them which is what they were doing when they were shot (they must have come in from the other side of the wood). As I also said we had the backing off the police to shoot stray dogs which we did.
  14. We had the backing off the police, we were acting within the law so nothing to worry about.
  15. Well after comming into work yesterday to a masacre of the poults (hundreds) and 8 dead sheep we decided to ring the police just to let them know that there may be stray dogs on the kill. Much to our suprise they gave permission to shoot any dogs that were worrying sheep or threatning our livestock as long as we informed them within 24hrs of us shooting them. Well we got both tonight, they came back the pen at dusk. 2 Collies will be off the vets tomorrow to see if they are microchipped so the owners can have a nice bill for 343 poults at £35 a bird!!!!!!!!! Sad but we are trying to make a living and that doesn't include the price of the dead sheep or the other 4 that are walking round ripped to shreds! Please keep your dogs under control when out and about. ATB
  16. Rabbits with mixey shoulld be incenerated......otherwise your just putting it back into the soil.....
  17. unfortunatly some people just shoot for fun and call it pest control. Our farmers wouldn't be happy to find rabbit carcasses everywhere. And what do they attract? other pests!!
  18. IMHO People should check the general licence EVERY YEAR as certanly at the moment it seems to change year to year. The OP hasn't checked it and could have landed in some serious trouble. ATB
  19. well done lads, some good shooting there. Best to pull your bolt out so we can see its not loaded tho
  20. Yup shooting on stubble DEFINATLY complies with the general licence. In fact surely shooting pigeons on stubble will just push the birds onto standing crops?? (and yes I am a shooter, just a bit different to some  )
  21. As long as you keep the distance sensible 32g 5's in steel are fine for canadas. Last season i took 6 canadas with 32g 5's This season had 2 so far stone dead and no head shot either!!
  22. Just got back from evening flight, left early with 1 canada and another mallard as i didn't want to carry much more off
