  1. Eh? Partridge end to pair up in march/april!!
  2. I have been shooting many years, I am now a Gamekeeper and can't help but wonder if the handing out of certificates has incresed negativly, I read lots of posts about new FAC applications for rabbit control (as rabbits are in abundance) and the odd fox, have people forgotten that foxes do infact control Rabbits? so why shoot the only fox you see? I as a keeper control foxes but i think we have to be careful as, as certificate numbers go up, the natural predetors goes down. Lets face it, in alot of areas foxes are not a problem, but where they are a suitible shotgun/rifle/competent shooter is required.
  3. unfortunatly 'because i want one to shoot' isn't a good reason to have one and as for solid slugs i thought they only allowed these for deer shooting?
  4. if you are happy to do it then do it. This will only cause an argument on here!
  5. I don't wear hearing protection as i can't hear a thing while shooting with them on! Also my .22lr and .223 arn't moderated and i don't find it a problem. As long as you're not stood infront of the HMR you should be fine
  6. i don't think you will get enough to cause any real damage. Wait and see, i myself am not a fan of slug pellets, if they do cause a problem then you can do something about it.
  7. Its is illegal to use anything other than manual calls for birds! Electronic calls can only be used for 'photograpic' purposes
  8. agreed, magpies and Jays really **** me off this time of the year, had a Jay carrying off a pheasant chick already this year, the thieving little blighters. I have 5 larsons working at the moment on our shoot!
  9. what do you do with the birds?
  10. If you are a member of a rifle club then yes you can apply for FAC but it will be for target shooting only! as for the section 1 shotgun, you have to have good reason to own one as with any firearms
  11. surely his parents must have a licence, otherwise they should not be able to access his guns! as for transfering a shotgun to him, its the only way he can possess one as he is too young to buy one. (i'm pretty sure)
  12. the only thing that worries me about the injection is that they may come into season again so its 3 ferret jabs possibly twice a year, i am but a humble keeper so money is tight
  13. I wish it could still be that easy for me, I have taken care of 1 set of cubs off the shoot but after sitting out the last few nights it looks like the other 2 earths have emptied and the occupants have moved on, time to put out extra snares and will be lamping 7 days a week now till the are accounted for
  14. Stink pit or muck midden, you can just leave them under hedges etc there is no law against.

  16. thank you for your offer, but my 3 jills have just come into season so was after a Hob ready for the job really.
  17. I need a ferret hob for my girls, he will be well looked after and worked.
  18. on lures with treble hooks on them
  19. at 10 weeks + they will be feeding them out of the earths, so i would either get a terrier man in or bait the cubs.
  20. lol you guys have too much money if you are shooting rabbits with .223 and 22-250..........far to much money
  21. There will have to be pigeons in the area to begin with, but usualy after a good wind has blown some mature wheat down they will find it.
  22. absolutly no harm in taking them on the clays, his wife however strong an anti can say nothing about that!
