  1. loads of people say dont bother, but i clean mine after every outing,it likes ccis,it doesnt do any harm cleaning it often and i have"nt noticed any loss of accuracy but everybody to there own atb dave
  2. cant promise it will come to anything but try allan knight stocks, tel 01442382062/07759817920 or phone rimfire magic and ask for the name of the stockmaker that makes the thumbhole stocks for anschutz rifles there in sheffeild i think, had the name and number but cant find the bloody thing hope you get sorted atb dave
  3. had the max pro, found it poorly made, bad connections and put a red filter on and youd be very lucky to get 100 metres, sent it back and got cluson blazerlite, better built, solid, good connections and 200 plus metes with red filter no problem.Could be i just got a dodgy max pro alot of people have good things to say about them as dekers has said but once bitten ,twice shy so i"ll stay with cluson atb dave
  4. i think you might struggle on your budget,i can only think of hawkes around that price atb dave
  5. hi, no the 1517 is a single stage trigger, but you can get it converted to a two stage,i bought the thumbhole stock new £240 both of which you can get done from frank dyke, the trigger conversion is about £50 i think atb dave
  6. i did have cz in hmr form but as soon as i got an anschutz 1417 .22 with two stage trigger,i put the cz up for sale and bought an anschutz 1517 and had the trigger converted to a two stage, both now have thumbhole stocks and both 14" barrels and i wouldnt change them for anything. The difference between the cz and anschutz in accuracy is very little possibly anschutz a bit better but build quality, smoothness and overall quality of the annie beats the cz hands down.Between the two the .22 is very good as you say out to about 100yds max,but is alot quieter than the .17 and very good for lamping. The .17 good to 150yds but louder than the .22,meat damage is none existant with head shots and both calibres are more than capable of this if you do your bit.I would recomend you try the thumbhole stock if you decide on the annie as it has a raised cheekpiece much like an air rifle stock as normal rifle stocks do not have it so your chin will be alot higher on the stock. If i were you i would get both calibres funds permitting and bear in mind if you get a cz and trigger kit it will not make it a two stage trigger, just a trigger with no creep atb dave
  7. as gimlet said its about what feels right for you, gives you confidence when you pick it up and shoot it,my first gun was a CZ 452 .17HMR WITH 16" BARREL,great gun,i then bought a ANSCHUTZ 1417 .22 WITH 14" BARREL AND 2 STAGE TRIGGER.The differance between the two guns apart from the calibres for me was unbelievable,as i said the cz ,great gun but the build quality, smoothness and feel of the anschutz compared to the cz was unbeieivable.I sold the cz and bought an ANSCHUTZ 1517 WITH 14"BARREL AND TWO STAGE TRIGGER,both now have thumbhole stocks and i am really happy with both set ups.Whilst the annies are alot more expensive than czs at the end of the day its whats right for you, before you buy try holding the guns, see what feels right when you shoulder the gun if possible try shooting the guns. This shooting game can be quite expensive try and get it right first time and you will save yourself a good few bob or get it wrong from the start and loose yourself a good few bob as i can testify atb dave
  8. had a cz,great gun for the money but also had an anschutz 1417 at the same time, chalk and cheese so the cz went and anschutz 1517 in its place. The cz is a great gun but for build quality, looks and finish you cant beat the anschutz atb dave
  9. have you thought about a zeiss conquest,i have a 4.5-14x50 mildot and its excellent,about £550from usa
  10. i have annie 1417 and 1517 both with 14" barrels and wouldnt change them for anything, both these guns are alot more accurate than i am,the .22 is zeroed at 55yds and will still kill rabbits out to 80-85yds no holdover, cracking guns BUY IT
