  1. This is an ongoing issue with PW forums, its hapened to me, three times. Without changing any options, it reverts to this option for some reason. Dont worry nothing is wrong with your PC

    Good deed

Are you sure about that? (Not having a dig) I know its an offence to flee a crash scene that you have been involved in, but unless a crime has been commited there is no real reason why Police resources should be consumed dealing with an incident which can be dealt with by the parties involved. However if I was there and suspected anything unlawful/dangers I would have had the Police notified and attend the scene (and remained at the scene to be a witness) as it could save a life.. Or prehaps three.. In the event of an accident/minor crime, anything you see as suspicious could be a potential lead to larger crimes commited. No crime is solo, just like no accident was caused by a single event. A police officer who spots a car (for example) with a damaged tyre, non road legal number plate etc will usually run some checks on the vehicle and driver, and a good number of these cases turn up other offences such as driving unisured (a big one these days) or tax/MOT...etc offences.... So by putting that effort in to keep things legal and safe, you are reducing the number of crimes commited, and vehicle related accidents. EDIT: Well done for stopping by the way, most people would just drive straight by. I have seen accident scenes with bodies on the ground and people just drive by without offering the slightest bit of support, or even registering the fact that there is an emergancy situation.
  3. Im doing a bit of part time work between joining the fire service, so working in a large Homebase storeputs me under the customer spotlight. Oneday theres a (rather attractive) mother and family in tow looking to but a swivel chair. Kid jumps onto the chair and wonders why it wont go down when she pulls the adjustable hight lever, so I sugest mum tries it, and then I pull a cracker... ''with your weight, the chair should function correctly'' Errr.. weight a minute  Husband says in a joking way, ''You calling my wife fat?'' We all had a laugh after I quickly repaired the verbal damage I caused
  4. The problem with the publics negative feelings (in general) for the police is presented here. They know so little about what the police actually are and do in their daily jobs, that there are so many roumers and myths giving them a bad name. The media is the worst for this. If you have an interest, or even dislike in the police, you should study it for a while, the different role, oppertunities, and types of work involved. I learnt so much about the police I see them in a very different way to how I and the rest of our class saw them before a years study. (Yes a whole year!) I still get that itchy feeling to work for the police.. prehaps oneday
  5. Tactical Aid Group is not the same as armed police officers. The TAG police are involved in drug searches of property, and are there to support the police in breaking down doors etc Police officers may apply for firearms officer positions after two years of probationary duty from the begining of their career. Armed police dont sit around the office waiting to grab their guns and dash to the scene. Armed police usually run a daily duty such as traffic policing, and will respond to situations where unarmed police need assistance in cases were an offender is (or is thought to be) carrying a bladed weapon or firearm. But all this comes at a price to the officer, more responsibility means more training and more paperwork, and it usually takes more then two years to gain application to Firearms as its a popular choice of application within the police, so selection standards are high, but rewarding if you are able to join. I was studying to join the police, with firearms in mind untill I opted for the fire service instead.. quite a difference

    2nd Job

Cheers guys, things are slowly comming together. I have had to study a lot to pass that theory exam, buy a car, and get two part time jobs. I will need a better car once im in the fire service, something to get from A-B a bit faster then my current car The one thing thats hit me most is not shooting. I havent been out with the guns for near enough two months now and have sold a couple. I am now down to just two rifles (getting dusty) and it looks pretty bleak for my shooting future at the moment. I have been saving up to do a two day tactical firearms course in Geneva though which should be fun. Sorry I dont post here much latley for reasons best kept to PM, but I hope you lot are well!.

  8. Good man! if anyone finds out his name/address etc I will be happy to put an email through.
  9. Raising a glass to Ernyha tonight of finest fench wine from my wine celler
  10. Sorry to urniate on your bonfires but thats a normal rainbow photo flipped. Its impossipble for a rainbow to curve upwards due to the earths curavture and the way light hits the atmosphere. Dont fall for it, look at the image upside down, its quite obvious.. Oh.. and he guys, long time no post, I nearly posted in the sheep killing thread but deleted my post before I clicked 'post' in fear of being called the PW police etc. Large pinch of salt required when reading ANYTHING media related. Sorry for any spelling errors I have just finished a rather expensive french bottle of wine from my new wine celler and decided to pop on the ol' PW. I hope you are all well.
  11. I have a qaulification of GCSE D&T at A* :yp: I will give my contribution after the others have posted. With a clever head like yours you can get A* EASY!
  12. Ah yes the missing bookmark problem in Firefox. That has happened twice to me, but then again with the amount of crud that gets bookmarked its kind of useful to have a good clear out, except I wouldnt mind keeping some of the useful links when it does decide to self delete. Other weird ones with Firefox are homepage changes (or disapears) and bookmarked tabs disapearing.
  13. Its odd how it still happens even without changing settings..

    Failed

Firstly I would like to say THANKS for all the encouraging PM's and posts on this topic. Its been very helpful. As for the exam, it went very well. I revised and re-revised many times the: Time in: Time Now: Amount of air: -----------> Time left: Formula, which helped as there were a lot of qeustions based on this. Then there were formulas for pipe length, pipe diameter, and flow rate. I had to suggest the correct pressure for each length of hose, thickness, and the feed rate they asked for. And of course the other non mathematical modules which were equally challenging such as the 'NFA situational awareness&problem solving' :yp: In two weeks I will be able to tell you if I passed or failed! I do see the relevence of all the qeustions in relation to the fire service, so it does not feel like a waste of time even when I fail. Cheers!
  15. Darn it its hit again. :yp: Maybe oneday the mods can find a way of stopping it or pinning a thread on how to fix it. Its the issues of having posts listed as links bellow the original thread and having to open them all individually, I have forgotten where to change this, if anyone remembers I would be grateful. EDIT: I just found the options! All sorted now, thanks for looking.
  16. Agreed, do take plenty of photos for those not attending. Atleast I wont be there to have the p*** taken though. I will do my best to make it to next years, to many reasons why I cant make it this year. Hope you all have a good time! and the weather holds up..
  17. I have never heard of CCI rounds grouping well in any rimfire. Its true the Sako Quad and Sako Finnfire range are built quite tight at the breach and can be ammo fussy. I am using Lapua .22 Subsonic rounds, and never touched CCI rounds, although I do use .22 CCI shotshells for despatch jobs and they fit ok. Lapua rounds from what I understand come in two case widths. One for new tight breaches and a slightly thicker case for older worn breaches. So if you buy Lapua make sure you use the standard hollow point (green box). Try a few different ammunition types and see what works, if not, bring the gun to a smith to ream out the breach. Better doing that then damage something by forcing the bolt and ejector pin.
  18. Nice one Mung, welcome to the T3 club
  19. Great work! I am hopeless at shooting moving birds so I appreciate te skill involved.
  20. Cheers! Its an AGS SWAT 6-16(?)X56, Side PA. Nice bit of kit.
  21. Its a good range but sadly I think I will o longer pay to shoot there. I can only shoot .22 on that range, and no hollow points, so its useless to me as I cannot zero the guns (legally) there. However I do use the range for testing purposes and ballistic mapping though thats hardly relevant at rimfire ranges. I only shoot there in the summer so I can use the outdoor range. I paid over £100 in 3 years, and have shot there only around 10 times. I REALLY need a new shooting permission.. then again everyone says they do
  22. Cheers guys The Sako Finnfire is a very nice rimfire, I had my eyes on it before my FAC application, and the gunshop put it away for me. It was the last brand new Finnfire Varmint they could get in. Seems silly they stopped making them as they are in quite good demand.
  23. Amazing stuff there Nick! There has got to be a way to make some £££ with photos like that. You should try sell some to the racers! (if legal). Keep them comming!
  24. Thats some attitude towards wildlife you have there. Hardly the responsible thing to do, let alone on a public highway. I hope you are never granted anything more then a rubber band gun licence. Shaggy as a shooting sports person you have done your duty, to ensure wildlife leaves this earth in a painless manner. You did what most of us would see the right thing to do, I have been there and done almost exactly the same thing myself. The sad fact is if the police were involved they would probably call a vet who would also arrive minutes, or hours later to do the right thing, leaving the animal laying there in agony. On another note I drove passed a rabbit today that had obviously had multiple cars drive over it to ensure its painless death. Pavement pizza comes to mind I have hit a couple of things, and where safe/practical I tend to stop, and lay the animal in the hedge line.. makes the road safer, and seems like the right thing to do.
  25. Funny you post this, I was at my village fete just today! I have some interesting photos of the fire station, I was there for the open day when a call out happened. MAde a few good photos. The village was doing its annual 'scarecrow' festival with many home made scarecrows on display in the village.
