  1. Thanks. Naff all showed tonight. Bed then poss pigeons tomorrow.
  2. Hi Simon, it's another 22.250 with 1-12 twist was built for nv and planned to load using 53 vmax but can't get them so tried some60s they seem ok ;;-) p's it's a tikka m55
  3. yes not had a problem with the nm, twice had fox's run from the laser, neither i must add were shot at. Just rang permission to let them know I'll be round later. See if I can clear up some more.
  4. Have you found the laser spooks fox,s, i shoot mainly on well lamped permissions and allot of wise fox,s any flick of a lamp and they're gone. That's one of the reasons for the spend
  5. Depending on light source 150yds is easy.. I was out last night with mine, the first time out with it since receiving it last Wednesday. My setup is on a 22.250 leupold vxlll 4.5-14×50 NM 800 in. Archer is used as a spotter with the firefly as the light source for this purpose only as i have found it does spook them. (my permissions are mostly second hand if you know what I mean) Once spotted the archer,s put back on the scope for the final deed using the nm800 and called into range, They will come in to silly range as long as your quiet and they don't wind you. Brilliant bit of kit. 3 on my first night out with it says enough.
  6. Give it a GOOD clean, and start over again, then see what the results are like compared Then ask the same question. It may have an effect on both your group and your question.

    Nv Scopes

Well done Ben on the shooting, you seem to have sorted out the teething problems,
  8. After having a couple of blank night's (probably down to the over zealous pest control) i went out on some freshly cut stubble and spotted some eyes out at around 100yds or so, not hanging around probably the smell of diesel fumes blowing there way. Driving beyond them and eventually getting down wind from them i got set up with my caller with some new all improved !!! special offer!!! calls added. It wasnt long before one decided its go to check out the creature making that noise. That sat at about 60yds. It's mate was no were to be seen, well at least for a while. It soon showed itself around 100 or so yds around 20 mins later. With 2 in the bag and 22.20 I was happy so picked up the 2 and dropped them under the back of the pickup. Before I went for the caller I had a look over the hedge using the Archer and firefly there was another pair of eye's, Oh! could be in for a 3 some, this one wasn't moving,it had some suspicions, I was the wrong side of it, it could get a wiff of my after shave if I wasn't careful the smell of "brut" may just make it turn tail and run. The only way for this was to stalk round to get a shot on from the left hand side and get out of the wind. Eventually I got in a good position but had difficulty judging the range, normal when using NO so I,my informed, front chest would or should meet the mark, it did. All 3 dropped motionless, was trying some 60grn very max through my 22.250 for a change.
  9. Ask FLO if they're going to allow the 308 for Fox then. My bet is it will be a NO. Then tell them you have a bloody good reason to own the one's you have, it is obvious you know why you have the calibres you have chosen.
  10. Quite a few bases from Leopold are different sizes/lengths. If they're slightly different hights they could be off a ruger. 77 cf Can't see a big picture as i'm on a phone.
  11. Had you ever thought that in the first group it could have just been 1 pellet that had key-holed hence the wizzzzing noise and your othershots missed tthe paper all together.
  12. No. I did once by mistake, and believe me I don't ever want to do that again. It had been weeks since I last took the rifle out of the cabinet, a mate's dad had a look at it ( a shooter) and I handed over the bolt in it went and then we heard it. The click of a mighty 30.06 round being picked up from the magazine. So no I don't EVER.
  13. No ,,,,, it's your mind that's thinking its wrong. :-)
  14. I would make sure either you full length resize next loading or scrap your brass. Again a mention of using "SAND" in gun rests, it may not have been an issue here but cack on the cases or in the chamber could cause this. But more likely cases over large
  15. Thats some going, at £1.50 a piece you could re-coupe some of your initial outlay
  16. Partly true, Beef is hung as 1/4's usually, fore and hind for weeks ideally 4 but mostly 3 weeks, Joints allready cut to meal size will not keep that long too well, they will go green depending on your fridge and humidity if left for weeks in the fridge, I'm not saying you will get food poisoning but you will need to scrape the green slime off it before you cook it. I'm a smeller, if it smells ok then i eat it
  17. +1 Just thinking about how you would do a risk assesment on that one, OK it might be safe sometimes but just think of the times it wont be. A lost hand could be the least of the injury add to that a cleaning rod stuck up the barrel. No i fancy the hitting the bolt back with a hammer and wood option thanks
  18. If it were me i would stick with optilock, they're dearer yes, but only 1 10th the price of your rifle they won't mark your scope, what's that worth How many times do you see folk's asking when buying 2nd hand scopes if they have crimp marks on them ? Don't compromise on the mounts.
  19. Take your scope and mounts off, take the ring's off the mounts and start over again making sure all bolts are tight. try a few shots without the mod, then with,if it's still bad then try another scope. It has got to be one of the abovementioned. Or your crown is u/so or you're barrel, but I doubt it either of those.
  20. You have some Octopus system so put some wheels on it.
  21. I think that's what's going to happening from now on. Thanks al4x
  22. It works ok, it's simple enough it emits a laser, I never thought that only moments before I spotted a cat,and that just sat and stared at the light so it must have been highly visible. This fox wasn't hanging around, yet before while using the Archer without the firefly it had no idea i was there. It's a learning curve at the moment.
  23. Hi folks, I found out last night after the first time out with my archer that the laser spooks Fox's. I had the NM mounted on the scope but chose to use the firefly to my dissapointment,Does the NM have the same affect as i didnt get chance last night to find out,
  24. I may have some Leopold qr that may fit I will let you know asap tomorrow £40 posted ?
