  1. i've been out of butchery now for over 11 years a few places i've eaten have tried fobbing me off with cheaper cuts, i allways comment and ask what cut is it as i asked for X,Y,Z type of steak. I have refused to pay, walked out and on a few occasions even taken the bottle of wine for compensation, and told them why. It can be difficult to tell for those that would not know a bit of thick flank from a piece of tenderloin (fillet) or LMC for a piece of topside. The best one was having fillet replaced by a slice of topside it was well funny at the time, i was with a fellow butcher having a meal before going out on the pop, we couldnt believe it. It was soon changed and a free meal for both, the wally's didnt realise we actually supplied them with there meat, £300-400 worth of sirloin and hip-bone steak a week plus £150 of fillet. well done :good: i just ignored it
  2. Looks nice sparkie. will def need to have a go at Catton Ive got a lovely scope that will look nice on that, A VX1 3-9x40 just the right size for the range you'll be shooting at
  3. The wording on your ticket will say something on the lines of... 22rf and 17 hmr shall be used for shooting vermin and for zeroing on land deemed suitable by Chief of police. Fox are classed as vermin, so in court it would not have very strong foundation's. You will have more of a problem if found guilty of causing suffering by using an inadequate caliber.
  4. Ase utra... Rabbits don't hear much after a little 17 pill contacts there bonce. They can be stripped AND only £65 ish
  5. Can't you just neck size, that will reduce the case stretch And only FL when its really nessasary,ie; when its starting to get a little tight closing the bolt
  6. And me . but mine is a mighty.. Very quick to recycle due to the short bolt lift, you should be able to get a few rounds off at them Fox's while there running
  7. Always take one last look behind you, the little ******* try and sneak up on you. Nice one.
  8. Cheers folk. I would if liked to take my mighty 30.06 but allas it's as I said scopeless.
  9. Sorry yes correct. Min 50gr bullet and min 1000 flb hornet is a little shy of both ;-)
  10. Yes it is legal !!! muntjac can be taken using 22 cf , must be on your ticket aswell. A little more reading I think.
  11. Watching this post and also sifting through the normal bs, i am also thinking leupold vx3 as recomended by people who actually have an archer At the moment i have a Z4i and Z6i on both rifles that are donors for an archer but i think i can see a scope change coming pretty soon for the rifle for lamp shy Fox's and am leaning towards the leupold.
  12. Not that much holdover I did manage to get out of the the arm chair to shoot it. I did wonder about taking the "mighty" but declined as at the mo it is scope'less as the Z4 is the actually on the M55 at the mo, just until i get some night vision sorted. They have been around here for some time now, just not on my permisions. I bagged this on someone elses ...... well if they dont go,spend there shooting time in the pub instead of shooting it could have been them and not me with a load more sausage to make. I got an invite to sort a problem out and get a result thats what happens. edit to add;;; the M55 is not the motorway, for those who dont know
  13. Yes Stu only 2 miles from my back door.
  14. It's an old Tikka m55 re-barreled by Dave Wild and shoots like a dream. It's given it a brand new life
  15. I had an invite to see if we could thin out some Munty's, it was a hard decision, but i eventually got persuaded to get out of the house Anyway got the gear sorted, bananas, flask, handwarmer, wolly hat, bino.s rifle and bullets and ready. Up into a high seat and ready, bananas and coffee set out in a suitable position so as to cut down on any exsessive movement should i feel the need to grab a drink or eat. rifle positioned bino's ready hat on, and then wait. Well if i was after rabbits i could of bagged a few, there were plenty about. A few hen pheasants came out of cover onto the grass and joined a few rabbits, then a dark patch caught my eye to my right about 130 yds away, it was a Doe slowly coming out onto the grass, she turned showing nothing but her back end as she came out of the thicket. Walking up hill and away from me there was no clear shot until she turned. She stopped looking up hill for a moment then turned her head looking down hill, then gave me the chance of the shot. She dropped without movement. Job done. More sausages on the way.
  16. I'm afraid i would have bled the nipples of the monkey who told you it will improve.
  17. Steve is a top bloke. He knows his stuff I am wondering what his prognosis was??? Did he hand it back to you and quickly look the other way ;-) I assume all other avenues have been covered. Nuts bolts scope all good Tried using a different scope??? 1.5 inch at 100. I think you need to start and improve your stalking skills.
  18. Will be an exellent choice for either 17 or 22 rf, to be honest it was going to replace a simmons on my HMR but changed my mind, i will probably regret it one day.
  19. How often do you see your GF you say she due on the 16th has she been on holiday It will be great if someone can bring something for me to chop up into bits, preferably some type of Deer though
  20. Thanks chaps for the comments can i interest you in a spare one
  21. If anyone gets one freeze it whole and bring it along. I would prefer a roe they are easier to skin and will go further on the BBQ.
  22. For sale my leupold 3-9x40 scope no longer used, i am asking £160inc P&P, with box and warranty card. Good condition very slight mark on one of the turrets about 2.5mm Payment via bacs preffered, i can post pictures if you wish to have a look at a VX1 but they are all pretty much all the same.
